Tracks and autotrack?

Post by Guest » Sun Mar 12, 2017 12:32 pm

How so you know which line is most recent to effectively track someone?

I thought it was the bottom of the most recent time set for manaul track.

Fresh horse east.
Fresh horse west.
Day old horse east.

Would mean you want to go west. And regarding autotrack it was a bit more of a gamble as it would show.

Horse track east.
Horse track west.
Horse track east.

I was trying to confirm what I thought I knew and saw that it doesnt always work that way, on a manual track there were 3 fresh sets I had made and the middle was the most recent set.

Is there something im missing or when dealing with multiple fresh sets is it a guessing game?

Unsure if there is a certain trick to it line-wise, but I generally just try to use "common sense". Say you have fresh west and east from burnt, its only one person and you know he came out of FD, would mean the fresher are the ones going east, since he came from fal dara, went west of burnt then back east.

I've always been under the impression that tracks get pushed to 2. position in their respective time set, kinda like how items get pushed to 2. position in inventories/backpacks. Which makes sense if of the three sets of fresh tracks you made, the second one was the most recent. No clue if this is true or not though.

IIRC Ranger Sneak will mess that up for the tracker - pushing the user's tracks towards the older positions...
