Speaking from a point of ignorance, but I was told once that it's a perk they can practice, but hardly anyone bothers to prac it.

Yeah it is a practiceable skill, but you can pretty easily tell in combat when someone is channeling anyways, and the skill itself is semi-unreliable so it ends up a waste of pracs. However, sense channeling is one of the 2 starter pracs fades generally get, so you will occasionally see it going off like this on the very low %.

I was pretty critical of Rig, but we brainstormed real hard and did find a marginal use for it: it does let you pick up on which channelers instantly start weaves every time they walk into a room without any overspam, ever. :)
