These things need more "fight leading up to the stab." Timer + R.I.P. is snooze.

Isn't that the whole point of stab, there isn't much of a fight but you get a kill?

I agree with Thore, perhaps even adding some context. I followed tracks from lugard to wb or I was fighting a few and then…

Ding! Basically... But there's gotta be some good ones where there's some melee beforehand, right? Maybe not.

Aside from getting greedy and trying to manage loot/scalping in the middle of group pk, or momentary lapses in judgement.... there really isn't -- and it's difficult to judge those things from the stabber's POV.
it's usually the rest of the group, not the stabber, that gets the other side low enough to be in stab range. The melee fights that get folks down to batt/wound are not very interesting from the stabber's perspective.

That said, I do agree with the sentiment. The handful of rooms of walking down a path and seeing a target on auto-scan followed by dism, toggling sneak and doubling back to the room preceeding the stab would help give some additional context to the stab.

similar to what I put in my post a little ways back in this thread.

Inside the Lighthouse
From this place the coming and going of ships can be seen, along with
traffic along the road to Seandar from the marsh and grasslands, and the
road from the docks. At night the light here is lit to show incomming ships
where the dock is and where the rocks far below are. There is one exit to
the south.

Outside the Lighthouse
The entrance to the lighthouse resides directly to the north. Beams of
light shine out from the top of the lighthouse at night, warning ships to
steer clear of the rocks far below on the coast. The road continues to the

Ouch! You lose a level.
Circle of Ravens
Somewhere in the heavens, the Circle of Ravens is the rebirthing point of
the honored dead. From here those points held by the Imperial Armies may be
reached. A fountain remains placid and still allowing for peace and rest.

Never give up! Never surrender! don't make scalps free/easy for him! make him work for it!
Even if naked, rolling spikes against his stabs would be a valiant attempt

alternatively, chuck a few low blows at him. check to see if he has any draughts on him with a blind h.dark, or pretending you didn't see him and heading back into that room and seeing if he would follow, and then leave and spam the door closed (that lighthouse is a no-hide, after all).

You are fighting a dirty, filthy stabber (cheery banter aimed at rogue playstyle in general and not a jab at the player at the keyboard)... don't feel bad about lowering yourself to his level!
