Darlana strikes again... no shame...as usual

So sometimes we cant go in to afk because we have to immediatly leave our window or our PC because something happens or comes up. im sure it was fairly obvious i wasnt behind the keyboard. so... also why is she repeatedly allowed to do this with out any kind of a punishment? hellmud or not

Punishment from ..whom? The playerbase? The Immortals?

My advice. Drop your link. There's been some ridiculous behavior lately in a game where linkdead and AFK can't be differentiated. You won't know who kills you, but the other player won't be able to claim they didn't know you weren't there.

People who don't mind to kill you afk right in your face will find it more tempting to kill you ld(so you dont have a log).
Most of our pbase are vets who are experinced enough to determine afk/ld even during the fight w/o flags(no bashing, no fleeing,etc).
Darlana obviously doesn't care, thus going ld would make no difference.
The real advice would be to move few rooms away from major pk route and hide. At least you wont get mauled by passersby with no autotrack.

Its an unfortunate dilemma to be in. You can't stop people who are just going to kill you anyway. So how do you moderate the behavior of others. I still think there's some value to the LD against the right opponent - it might save you from the bloodlust of a group walking by who recognizes you are not there only after their bloodlust is up and they've beaten you up a bit. A common unfortunate occurrence for a player in this boat used to be - an AFK player is autowimpied out of the next room over back into the original group who presume they are there and attack them again.

How many charges or stabs are you willing to try and land on someone before you admit they aren't there? This is a hypothetical question to anyone - surviving one can be difficult. Its also why I bolded the veterans line. I don't disagree that usually it can be recognized but sometimes I wonder what a player's threshold is for giving in. How many spikes or bashes or what now will you deliver.

Very much agree with getting off the beaten path. Personally frustrated on my side of the screen by people who AFK in doors - I have to come in to figure out your status and for all I know you'll come back right at the wrong moment for me.

Last unfortunate thought - love it or hate it people are potentially going to treat you how they perceive your treatment of them and we all interpret "slights" differently. Bringing a whole group against me to start PK isn't a slight to me. Stabbing my horse probably would be.
