A find this weapon extremely interesting. It seems to be below the threshold of bashing dodge (I haven't seen it versus combo), and yet its OB seems to make that a non-issue. I was certainly surprised by it. Not the typical way abs weapons have worked, but I think it's really neat.

I lost the earlier part of this log to buffer, but it more or less involved Emdawe being unable to bash at trees, ditto at Ragan, to the point that he had no choice but to go in. (If he'd been using the weapon to its strengths, he wouldn't have tried to bash at all?)

What's your DB there, like 130? And maybe 250 total def? So realistically with multiple opponents on you, that sword only has to break like 170-200 def?

Yeah, it definitely needs to be able to bash dodge at least 25% of the time... bash is an absers version of defense.

Nice log, yeah the only way I might have done it different is just zerk it when at dog or agelmar and don't bother bashing let 210+ ob do its thing

I disagree. Bash is just the absers main trick. But this sword is a game changer for absers like the wickedly scythed longs word is, damage and OB (which I consider this heron a one step up from). It's not meant to bash, it's for offense. Bash is either to break your opponents defense or to deal extra damage (both amplified in group pk). But should a rogue be able to survive a sword wielding abser in 1vs1 straight up?

Where hunters can bash, charge, stab; rogues just stab mainly but have great survivability; now warriors have more motivation to focus on bash or OB/damage(maybe skip bash altogether). More pracs free'd for other skills. Kick, level 7 ride, sneak-zerk?, dodge!

You said it in your next statement, just wail on him.

I had a zerk offensive wsl fight (albeit I was dismounted) against a Trolloc rogue in mediocre dodge and I lost by hairs. If I was mounted I might have won.

I kindof disagree- if you can parry, you don't need to bash to stop getting hit. An abser's only way of not getting hit every round is to sit someone. That being said, I agree that clubs bash, axes do damage, lblades have ob. That's why I said 25%, and not 50 or 70. It doesn't have to bash like a mallet but I should think a heron could bash at least as well as a great claymore or gsword... but I'm sure they will address it. My only point is, as an abser, even with nice ob and damage, its pretty sad if you can't rely on bash at all.

Edit: I'd also like to point out that the other herons have no problem bashing, so why should the abs one? Again I'm not complaining or anything it should be tested thoroughly for 30 days and I'm sure they will make whatever adjustments make sense

I don't think it's very interesting to talk about how this weapon should be like other weapons. Keep in mind, too, that full dodge is only one setup. Its performance versus dodge will likely be quite different to its performance versus combo. The weapon excels against one setup in a particular way that is strange to our current experience of abs weapons, but is not necessarily bad. I don't quite understand the argument that you're going to be taking too much damage every round, because if you're against a dodger and breaking their defense constantly there's no way they'll out-DPS you with any standard weapon. If all you want is the strategic utility of bash against every setup, then just trade the weapon to someone else. Anyway, I'm more interested in the different possibilities a pure OB approach has than thinking about this weapon in particular. There are few weapons in the game that I've experienced being fragged to hell by before like that.
