A quick chase

Nothing special, but some potentially interesting things to take away based on some very old idiosyncrasies.

We'd been fighting Deimon, Carbon, and his mob at Kajin for awhile and had to scatter because Dazaq (turkky dodge) got whaled down to about 7 hps, I went winding with about 40, and the rest of us were about batt/beaten. Dazaq apparently goes up DF and narrates Deimon's on his booty, while abs crew is winding, where we are hanging out/regrouping/licking each others wounds sensually, since we weren't sure which way LS would chase. Lost most of this to buffer, but picks up as we roll north to help Daz.

* HP:Beaten MV:Winded > look - When fleeing from bush, sometimes I will dline a look in room because the first line of the adjacent rooms North and South literally tell you which direction Bush is in. This obviously isn't a dline, but more a function of doing something I'm accustomed to doing frequently and got into the habit of doing years and years ago to specifically stop myself from ever dlining a direction from bush when I'm not terribly worried about fleeing into it -- at this point, I assume it's closed, but it's also an absolutely wasted command because I've already processed the room name and tried to move south already.

Just to the south, Tarwin's Gap opens out into a large rocky opening among
the foothills of the Mountains of Dhoom. Tall walls loom over the rocky soil
to either side of the pass, casting shadows onto the rocky soil. Sparse tufts
of wiry grass are scattered among the rocks here, and an occasional pebble
comes tumbling down.

Takeaways:

1) For the runners: don't give up too quickly on horse/nearby mob support, especially if you're not bleeding yet.

2) For the chasers -- if you're a hunter, while you're moving, learn to pick up passive cues and let it work its way into how you move. In moving through three rooms in quick succession, I ruled out three possible paths and was able to quickly discern what he was doing.

3) For everyone: change wimpy zero in abs.

4) For everyone: if there's an aggro in the room and it's on you and not the leader, sometimes it's okay to stay engaged on it so that the chaser can chase.

5) Dlining is not always a great option, especially when you're running, but even when you're chasing sometimes. As a runner, if you have the HPs to spare, a habit I've picked up over the years is to dline 'look' so I can let myself process whether or not I've fled into a room that might have *better* dlines than the room that I just fled from. Then double-line if you need to. As a chaser, I've double-lined out of rooms the person I'm trying to kill walks into enough to just stop doing that and getting into the habit of also throwing in a 'kill' before moving.

I believe its a habit from zmud, or Honey uses zmud, to centre the map on you (which just fleeing won't necessarily do).
Its a great tactic in this case; Deimon has fled either with a dung dline or taking a second to orient, k human and boom.

Nah - it's a habit based on two things:

1) Using brief mode but sometimes (often) needing to see the room description as quickly as possible to get a better idea of where I fled based on the room desc.

2) Burning the double-line with a pretty benign command when a directional is a waste/not necessary/outright bad. It partially helped break the habit of dlining directions unnecessarily very early on. In this particular example, fleeing has a chance of putting me in his room, so dlining past him or away from him does me no good. In a lot of instances, dlining anything but 'east' from bush (pointless for me here) is a good way to run back into the group you're trying to run from.

In the set of rooms in the log, it's more a quirk and habit than anything because the room names are different enough - in zones where room-names are the same and double-lining doesn't make sense or is just outright a bad decision, it's almost crucial for getting a quicker idea of where you fled. Those are the only types of areas in the game where I've ever paid attention to room descs.

I've never been able to use maps effectively because I just straight up can't play without brief mode on and maps don't seem to work reliably in that mode -- using 'look' like this is just how I play around the limitations of brief (limited immediate info) while still enjoying the benefits of it (useful information more prominent more often, i.e. tracks).

TL;DR - A bunch of strategies that are defunct or unnecessary for most people because MUDLET!

The double edged sword of autowimpy as well.
Bush is pretty horrible and have to bank on an east d-line, or even east followed by north for a 50% gamble. Deimon gets a south flee then arrives back in the room, prob from a manual flee after the autoflee.

Even on abser i like to set my autowimpy a few hits into crit so that i know what value my hps are at. You definitely notice all the times it screws you over however killing you or moving you out of the room before you kill someone else.
