Can someone explain to me why I lost the stab battle here

A Trail in the Forest
As you enter the woods the sounds and smells of the forest surround you. This
trail looks like it might lead to good hunting. It leads off into Braem Wood
to the north. To the south is the Caemlyn Road.
[ obvious exits: N S ]
Zone: Forgotten Braem
You sense a hidden life form in the area...
A raven is visible flying high in the sky.
An irritating fly is here flying around.
A squirrel is here, chittering.
A mangy cat has arrived from the south.

* S HP:Wounded MV:Strong >
You attempt to hide yourself.

* S HP:Wounded MV:Strong >
You silently approach your victim...

Suddenly *someone* places something in your back!
You are dead! Sorry...
You feel the Weave of the Wheel loosen from you.

I mean great job Zeeb,

I legitimately cannot move any faster can someone please explain to me how zeeb was able to enter a command faster than my stacked commands while remaining hidden, because spamming backstab can't be the answer...

Not sure what others do, but the "legitimate" way to pull this off with any consistency is the "double-tap".

You tap backstab target twice in a row in quick succession. If the second command catches you, he knows there's a very high likelihood that his backstab command coincides with your hide command (i.e. his stab started earlier than yours), so he will roll it. Alternatively, if he starts on the first command and the second command just cancels his timer, he can just walk out knowing you've got the timer advantage on him.

A decent example because the sneak failed, you can see the timing:
* S HP:Healthy MV:Winded > backstab h.light
backstab h.light
Backstab who?
*Faiz* has arrived from above.

* S HP:Healthy MV:Winded > You silently approach your victim...

-=+**+=- -=+
A shrill piercing scream reverberates through the area.
It starts to rain.
A torch held by *Faiz* is about to go out! - Metaphor
Your heartbeat calms down more as you feel less panicked.

*
*Faiz* makes a strange sound as you place a dagger of green jade in his back!
*Faiz* is dead! R.I.P.
You feel the Weave of the Wheel tighten around you.
Your first time! Was it good for you too?
Your blood freezes as you hear *Faiz*'s death cry.
Three things to watch for here:

1) The stacked backstab commands.
2) Faiz arriving between the two commands.
3) Faiz arriving after the second command was input (which will happen virtually any time you use this method successfully).

Even if Faiz had been double-lining in for a stab, double-lining into a stab means your sneak *always fails*. Those three things in combination tell me that there's almost no chance Faiz managed to both hide *and* start a timer on me before my timer started on him.

in this situation you were leading a cat which is not very sneaky so I always knew if I won ;)
