To the north, as far as the eye can see barren hills dominate the
landscape. They are lifeless heaps of dry soil and loose rocks without.
Here and there remnants of dead plants can be found in the soil, slowly
decomposing in the heat and drought. The hills continue east and the dead
grounds stretch for as long as one can see towards the north and south.

So to add a little context here. I had jumped on my rogue to get an ingredient in order to craft a rare. While I was down there Cera headed over and I think was trying to engage but we were missing each other. So I decided to head north, I landed up low mvs winding and heard rats of you blight. I thought if you are abs I could probably make some fun pk with you where I just melee and use mobs. While I was regening pyra came to my room so I stabbed her and headed north to see what setup you were expecting Cera to join you. When I found you blight I saw you were razor combo meaning I could not break your defense. This means the only way for me to kill you is to stab you. I called other trollocs but they were all afk well since I thought they could fight you and I could alt to my warrior (who I have been playing 95% of the time). At this point I flee and head in to wait out my no quit. As I head back in I see you 1w gk and think ok fine maybe ill try stab and you log picks up after you moved a few n of 1w gk. I then had assumed you let me stab you so we could have an interesting fight and that we would mess about at low lvl mobs while Cera headed up. When we fought winding I picked up scent and assumed that was her but it was Garlan. Not sure what else I could have done here its just a bad match-up if you were abs or if garlan had joined sooner we could have had some fun.

This is simply untrue. A quick Whois would have shown you that this is a non-master. Second, you’re a master rogue, presumably at least with 17 strength and using a red stone as a master, so you’re getting at least 180 ob brave offensive, while Aloysius is getting somewhere around 80-85 db and 140-145 parry wimpy. In heavy combo.

First there’s mention in your post that if he was abs you would have used mobs to pk? That’s almost the right mindset, however after hearing you talk about how bad combo is and going abs stab yourself for a while, you also know full well that combo is pretty rough right now. It was entirely possible for you to use mobs against someone in combo. Quaff a str tea and you’re at 190 ob, definitely going to be breaking his defense. Breaking is defense no matter what at mobs.

This log is a very good example as to why rogues are normally bad pk. Aloysius is very bad on anyone not a channeler. I recommend learning how to effectively use mob support, however I will stop giving away my secrets now! Alas, not many truly know how strong attacking weapons are.

Or just play an alt that has a way of doing damage to your opponent that doesn't involve spam fleeing and insta killing them when they're not paying attention. You know, like a game where both players actually want to play against each other not one where one player is being forced to endure the unfun antics of the other player.

Rig your numbers are a little off here are the details. The OB is about 10 less than you thought. I could not really hit him with a str tea and brave and offensive off mobs (I had quaffed at the start of the pk). So as soon as he flees off mobs I am no threat to him outside of stab.

Your base abilities are: Str:18 Int:11 Wil:8 Dex:19 Con:19.
Offensive bonus: 169, Dodging bonus: 87, Parrying bonus: 103
Your mood is: Brave. You will flee below: 119 Hit Points
Your posture is: Offensive.
Your armor absorbs about 68% on average.

You are subjected to the following effects:

I will start off by saying I have a good amount of respect for the pk ability of the OP.

Let people play the game how they want. Wether it's discord or these forums at any given time you can log in and see a nearly constant stream of complaints. Rogues, dodge, auto wimpy, channelers, sitting at mobs, not using the right mobs, running to far, not running far enough, bringing to many, the list could go on.

Everyone plays the game differently and at different levels. When can we just move on from constantly complaining about one another as a community.

Trolloc rogues can be quite annoying. People like em though, they have utility outside of pk that makes them attractive in the current low population state in the mud.

What's worse for the game environment as a whole, some fleebie rogues in pk (trolloc or otherwise) or constantly dissecting and criticizing the actions of everyone around you.

I'm not dissecting necessarily. No complaints. I'm sure my numbers were off by about 10 ob, I was thinking of dodge number ob I believe.

Anyway, the point of my post is not to tell somehow how to play, or how they need to react. I'll rephrase what I said above by telling you what can be seen from the log.

1. There are a few instances of Gok hitting him with melee while brave offensive, before he even quaffs a strength tea.
2. There isn't actually a reason for you to hit him off mobs unless you're obviously winning (in which, you stabbed him beaten and were full hit points)
3. he could not hit you unbashed, but definitely hit you almost every time while bashed.

So, for improvement I think it's important to understand that the role you're playing in this specific circumstance is to get low and entice Aloysius, whom you just stabbed low, to hit you at mobs and try to finish you. Doing so will let you break his defense even easier with mobs, and allow you to most likely kill him here unless he runs all the way to FD, and by that time pk is over for both of you anyway.

After talking to Gok on DS, I just want to make it clear that this wasn't an attack on him personally. This was just an example of why trolloc rogues are really annoying to fight against.

Gok kept telling me "I don't know how I could have played this differently". That's exactly the point - the game mechanics sets this up such that it's no fun for anyone to fight against a trolloc rogue. So just have some empathy and don't give people pk that you yourself wouldn't want to fight against. Seems like Gok is mostly doing this by playing other alts so props to him :)

Let's just continue to name and shame the active trolloc rogue pkers until they stop! :)

It's a forum dedicated to PK logs and strategy, so it's fine to talk about strategy.

Gok breaks Aloysius's parry before quaffing the STR tea, so it's certainly possible to do so. The melee calculator suggests that if Gok has 179 OB and Aloysius is brave with 95 db and 120 pb, it should break parry 29.7% of the time. That's pretty decent to get somewhere.

In any case, Aloysius could land on Gok, which means the PK wasn't stagnant. As far as I see it, the strategy there for Gok would be to try to break parry and, otherwise, eat damage until there's an actual reason for Aloysius to hit him at mobs.

PK is always about give and take if you want people to have some fun on both sides. You need to be able to gauge what risks need to be taken, what tradeoffs, etc., to keep both sides interested with a chance of winning. Otherwise, it quickly becomes one-sided and the side with the disadvantage won't feel like continuing the PK.

This is why I've always had a preference to solo PK (myself vs however many) or low numbers PK, because it is a lot easier to understand what risks are reasonable and how to keep the PK interesting. You start adding in a lot more people to try to keep track of as well and it becomes much harder to play at that edge without something going wrong (people not reacting how you expect on both sides, etc.).

In this particular instance, the main thing that Gok could have done differently is get low on purpose. Take the fight 1v1 away from the mobs, to at least get within a range it is reasonable to then hit at mobs. I had a long log of a fight spine that is a similar situation of a basher vs rogue.
