TBH, looks more like a target script fail since you sensed the presence. At least from the log, it looks like "x" is part of a target script command, and what got sent to the MUD was "kill $target$", not "kill puddles" or "kill dark". I might be wrong, though, I don't use targeting scripts because I had too many fails like that. I usually max out mud aliases and have a few client aliases to link them together for lights/water, etc, but my distrust of scripts is probably why MUDding kills my wrists.

Just my $0.02.

It kind of likes like you might be right. The first set of commands are for "kill $target$" which all miss. Once the stab goes through and the stat commands goes off, the next command is "z" not "kill $target$" which targets Puddles correctly. Presumably "z" is a different kill alias, possibly kill dark rather than a named target.

No, I have a very simple target script and a door script which just sets aliases for 3 names and 1 door. In kill $target$ the target is always set to dark (with very rare exceptions). q is for name targets, and just a few minutes before I had been pking Koresh, so I had q set to koresh

I wouldn't sit allw RK spamming a name target :P x is dia h.$target, and z is kill h.$target$ -

I switched to spamming k $target$ with 94 notice (I was told 94 is almost never fail - which means in a spam of a stab timer it will catch it) because when pking a stabber I found that especially as an abser, I want to be able to get first hits in without losing too many moves. Second reason for high notice was that if I'm at a block, I could get stabbed by someone just d/lining hiding and rolling a stab. Third reason is when following a leader who is chasing someone low, in some chokey areas for instance, I can afford to have notice on just spam k dark for a few rooms.

I still throw in a z here and there but I have NEVER seen k $target$ fail so many times. I have seen it engage a little late - like after 2 spams but that's about it.

This was a few minutes earlier and why I was allw, hoping koresh would come back out:

Ahh, okay, see I wasn't sure since I don't use them. Figured it was worth mentioning if it was a possibility, though... especially since the log didn't show the command typed and also how it was translated into the mud language.

Still, I tried to use one and it drove me batty, it really seemed more work than just using mud aliases. ;)
