A Narrow Overhang
The trail continues northward here, but the path is incredibly thin, and
barely clings around the edge of a small mountain, with a hundred league
drop to a huge canyon on the bottom. Up north, you can make out a small
opening in the side of the mountain. The views are extraordinary, and much
can be learned by watching from here.

A Sharp Turn
Here the trail finally starts bending inward deeper into the Spine of the
World
again. At this point, the air seems to get a bit thinner, you are so high up
that the clouds seem almost within reach. Small gouts of hot dry air blow
from
deeper within the mountain, creating a sharp contrast to the frigid mountain
airs coming from the west.

A Twist in the Climb
The trail climbing up the side of the mountain reverses here, and continues
southward. Further south, it finally appears to start turning eastward again,
to bring travelers deeper into the heart of the Spine of the World. To the
north is a long drop to a valley below you, with what looks like a small
river
snaking its way through the mountain range.

A Large Step
Your way forward is blocked by a huge rocky formation. Large cracks filled
with
brown creepers in the weathered rock make climbable handholds, however, and
it
seems possible for an average traveler to climb over. To the northwest, you
can
see the smaller mountain range known as Kinslayer's Dagger.

A Bend in the Trail
Here the trails bends northward to skirt around a small rocky crag in the
mountains. It seems somewhat dangerous to continue, as the western side of
the
trail is an open fall thousands of spans to the ground. You can see the large
city of Cairhien in that direction, the last visible city of the wetlands
before entering the route into the Waste.

Above the overhang is a small platform jutting out from the mountainside. At
this height you are able to see far out into the wetlands, creating a
magnificent sense of freedom and vision. Behind you, the trail trail

A Rough Overhang
The steep climb bends outward into a rocky overhang here, and to continue
onward you are forced to cling to rocky formations and move hand over hand.
The
slightest mistake could leave you a corpse at the bottom of the Dragonwall,
and
a warning to all other climbers who would try these enormous mountains.

A Steep Climb
The already tough trail now begins to slope upward, making it all the more
difficult to follow. Loose rocks and sand slide down the slope in small
rivulets from above, and the hard-baked sand gives easily, making the climb
even more slippery.

World. The rock has been improbably weathered into a fairly smooth stairway,
zigzagging up the side of the mountains while leaning inward. The hard rock

tight-packed sand are held together by crisscrossing entanglements of weeds.

The Start of a Narrow Pathway
There is a small break in the massive chain of mountains known as the Spine
of
the World here, where it seems possible for an experienced traveler to
traverse
the interminable mountain range. Huge rock spires tower to either side,
looming
over the pass like immense sentinels to this small entryway to the Aiel
Waste.

make a network across the ground. Further to the east, you can make out a

rocky soil. The landscape is utterly silent, indicating the lack of life, and

This pass of rock leads through the Spine of the World towards the Aiel
Waste. To the north, rocky hills rise. The pass continues west back towards
Cairhien, and eastward toward the even larger chain of mountains extending
north and south known as the Spine of the World.

moisture. The heat is oppressive and the air is extremely dry. To either

The devastation here is overwhelming. The beds and tables have been totally

on the floor, and there is a skeleton pinned under one of the beds. The only

This is the entrance to the northern keep. The door to the keep is still
intact but seems to be rusted open. Old runes have been carved into the
wall surrounding the opening giving a sense of the tranquility this place
once had. The vines hanging from the outer walls have all but covered the
opening. The Grand Hall lies to the east and the courtyard expands to the
west.

This part of the courtyard runs along the wall of the eastern keep. The
walls of the keep are showing signs of age but are apparently fareing better
than the rest of the castle. Large black vines with thorns almost encase
the entire keep, almost acting as a tomb. The entrance to the eastern keep
lies to the north and a destroyed catapult lies to the south.

keeps which tower above everything. From here the vastness of the
destruction of the entire castle can be seen in its entirety. The roofs of
both keeps have collapsed in on themselves totally destroying the upper
levels of both keeps. Also most of the walls that used to provide excellent
protection against attack have nearly crumbled to nothing. A putrid smell
of decay can be sensed coming from the west, and a well lies to the south

To the east lie the shattered remains of the southern keep. From here the
devastation is even more apparent than before. The roof of this once
prominant keep has collapsed in on itself totally destroying the upper
level of the keep. Large vines with huge spikes on them have made the walls
of the keep their home. To the north a well can be seen and to the east is
the entrance to the barracks.

A temporary makeshift pen of rocks and wood blocks the way to the south,
but it can easily be opened by a strong arm.

It is now obvious just how run down this castle is. The walls surrounding
the castle have become piles of rubble in many places or are nearly
completely covered by large thorny vines. Most of the towers on the wall have
collapsed rendering them totally useless. The ceilings of both keeps have
also fallen in on themselves totally destroying the top level of each. To
the east are the twin keeps, and the courtyard continues in all directions.

The Gatekeep
Two large round towers lie to the west and the same to the east. This area
is enclosed by great walls connecting all four towers, with portcullises
in between the towers to the east and west. The portcullis to the west is
jammed half way down. The portcullis to the east has a large hole ripped
through the iron bars. Beyond the east portcullis lie the main gates to
the castle courtyard. These monstrous oak doors are wide open leaving the
castle totally unprotected. A path runs westward away from the castle.

In Front of the Castle
Rotten skeletons lie on either side of the castle entrance. The huge oak
doors lie on the ground apparently broken off from their hinges, and the
portcullis is rusted fast about five feet from the ground. However, newly
crafted stone gates stand before you. Four round towers loom high above
providing excellent protection for the main entrance to the fortress. The
stones that make up the tower have been cut from a very dull red marble
giving a sense of age. A path leads west, away from the castle.

The Bridge
At this point a huge suspension bridge stretches across the vastness of the
ravine. The bridge has become rotten with age but still seems useable. The
sound of a raging river can be heard from the depths of the canyon below.
To the north a monstrous waterfall can be seen plummeting to the depths of
the canyon. The waterfall has formed a stair-like ridge where the water has
eroded the rock face of one of the cliffs. The bridge continues towards a
castle to the east and through the mountains to the west.

Near a Bridge
Here the path drastically changes. It is now lined with tall slender poles
with the skulls of various types of creatures placed atop them. The trees
have become nearly nonexistent. The only things that remain of the trees
are the trunks that once held them high in the sky. The dirt of the path
has become an unnatural color of black, and the cracks in it are lined with
moss and mold. To the east a bridge can be seen crossing a large canyon.
The path continues to the east over the bridge and to the west, away from
the castle.

Rotten Vegetation
The trees and plants that line the path have become very decrepit and weak.
The plants are wilting, and the trees are slumped over. The dirt of the path
has become a dull gray, and large cracks run through it. Moss and mold have
started to grow in the cracks of the path making it quite slippery. From
here, the castle looks very old and in disrepair. Large scavenger birds can
be seen circling high above the castle walls.

The terrain here is rocky and slopes upwards through the outskirts of the
Mountains of Dhoom. The air is unpleasantly warm, and the vegetation appears

From here, with closer observation, it can be seen that the castle roof has
collapsed in on itself, thus destroying the entire top level. Many sounds of
nature can be heard from all around. The dirt on the path has become slightly
drier than to the west. Also, the trees here are becoming less abundant than
before. The path continues to the east and west.

From here the abandoned castle can be seen set deep within the mountain
reaches to the east. Large ravens can be seen circling high above the castle
walls. The castle has obviously fallen into disrepair. The walls seem to
have collapsed in several areas, and the roof of the northwest tower has
fallen in on itself. There appear to be newly built stone gates, however.
The path continues south towards the Blight and east towards the castle.

This path winds up a slope to an apparently dark and deserted castle.
Two columns of tall, slender spruce trees line both sides of the steep
path. Over the tops of the trees to the left, the white, jagged peaks of
the Mountains of Dhoom can be seen. The terrain is rough and rocky, and
the sickly air of the Blight is warm and humid.

Here the Blight opens right upon the very edge of the Mountains of Dhoom. The

Tarwin's Gap
To either side the tall walls of Tarwin's Gap loom overhead, with the pitch
black peaks of the Mountains of Dhoom beyond. Small tufts of grass poke out
of the rocky soil, among the debris that litters the ground. The way seems
cluttered with boulders to the north, but the gap continues to the south.

Inside the Gap
Just to the south, Tarwin's Gap opens out into a large rocky opening among
the foothills of the Mountains of Dhoom. Tall walls loom over the rocky soil
to either side of the pass, casting shadows onto the rocky soil. Sparse tufts
of wiry grass are scattered among the rocks here, and an occasional pebble
comes tumbling down.

Entering the Gap
Here, among the foothills of the Mountains of Dhoom, lies the entrance to
Tarwin's Gap. Small rocks litter the ground, lying among the sparse tufts
of tough, wiry grass and the rare wildflower. Just to the north is the gap
itself, flanked by the black rock of the mountains, while a pair of paths
lead east and west, leading up and into the mountains themselves.

Little black rocks litter the ground, making footing in the already narrow
path even more treacherous. The jagged black peaks of the Mountains of Dhoom
stab into the sky to the east, as well as to the west across the gap, which
lies under the path. The path heads west towards the gap, and continues
north through the mountains.

The path dips diagonally, bending around a jumble of boulders to the north.
Under the ledge to the west, Tarwin's Gap makes its way through the Mountains
of Dhoom, and slipping and falling down the slope is all too likely. The
black
granite of the mountains to the other side blocks passage, letting the path
continue to the south and east.

This path continues to the south and west, winding its way through the jagged
edges of the mountains. The path appears to be quite worn, and well
travelled.

Eastern Path
This path winds its way through the mountainous terrain. It appears quite
wide
and well travelled, suggesting that a settlement must be near. The path bends
to the north and east here, all other travel is obscured by the black granite
of the Mountains of Dhoom.

Before Ruins in the Wasteland
A path has been cleared here to lead through the wasteland. Only pieces
remain of the pavement which once covered the small path, and not much more
is left of the building to which it leads.

Barren Field
This field seems to have been plowed in the past but now the land is
barren. The dry ground is fissured and some insects have made their
home in these fissures. There is an old cracked sign lying on the
ground partly covered with dirt.

Desolate Plains
The ground is dry and only few scrub bushes fighting for survival
here. The grass is almost yellow and half-dead already. There is
remains of campfire near one of the largest bushes which is the only
sign of any intelligent life form in here. To the east lies the path
as a proof of civilization's existence.

they grow slowly and once stamped onto usually die. The path
continues fairly straight to the north and south and desolated plains
open to the west.

Small, scrub bushes flank the east side of the path, and grass
covers the east and west side of the path leaving the path itself barren.

The path bends here to the north and east. To the north the path seems
to be a bit clearer but still relatively unused. The way to the west is
blocked by extremely huge fissure in the ground, probably caused by
something else than just dryness.

Off the Path
These plains don't offer much to look at except a few bushes which
grow up from the dry and fissured ground here and there. A few dots
of grass can be seen around also, fighting for water and life. A small
path, which leads through these wastelands, runs up to the north.

Before A Desolate Hill
Yellowish, scrub grass lives here and there on these plains. To the
south the ground begins to rise and forms a group of hills which form
a twisted line to the southwest. A small path wanders through the
wastelands far in the east, showing the way out from the plains.

On the Hill
A few plants have managed to take root in small fissures of this hill which
seems to be curving southwest from here. This side of the hill is also
covered by many loose rocks which forces anyone walking here to take
careful steps. The views across the countryside are magnificent and much
can be seen from here.

This desolate hill is mostly bare and fissured. South from here is an
impassable part of the hill, but to the east an easy way down back to the

This small dip between two hills is composed of dust-covered rocky ground. It
looks as though rain visits this area rarely, if ever, but somehow some dry
patches of coarse grass manage to maintain their grip on the barren soil.

From atop this hill you can see far into the surrounding countryside. There

rugged hills rising up all around, becoming steadily higher and more rugged

east. A gaping cave entrance opens up right into the side of the hill.

a large, strange hill juts up suddenly. The mountains can be seen to the

Start of the River Erinin
A small tree grows across the stream here, its roots stretching right over
the trickle of water. Its struggle for life in this barren land is
inspiring. Small clumps of green grass grow along the water's edge as well,
giving color to the otherwise dusty landscape. To the east the land rises
rather abruptly, forming an odd-looking hill which the stream twists
around. Towards the west, this small spring winds its way southwards and
becomes the mighty River Erinin.

stream is visible to the north and there appears to be a small tree growing

it. A large, unusual hill juts up dramatically to the northeast. The path

The ground here is rocky and rugged, making for difficult traveling. There
are
some patches of dry grass scattered about. There is a hill sloping up to the
west, and a mountain range is visible to the east. To the north a small,
trickling stream can be seen winding its way out of the hills and heading

A path from the south drops down into the gully and the only way out is
back up the path or north along the bottom. Dead, twisted trees have
toppled into the gully making it tough going. The bottom is littered with

With some more rain this could be pleasant but as dry as it is here the
vegetation is severely lacking. Off to the southwest rises a sizable hill.

This is the southwest side of a large hill, which dominates the surrounding
area by its sheer size. The only other thing in sight larger than it is the
Spine of the world visible to the east. There seems to be no passage up
this hill from here as the brush and fallen rocks block the way.

This is the north side of a small hill. The brush and bramble prevents
passage around it but there is a small trail going up. To the northwest is
another more massive hill. As you gaze to the east your eyes invariably
rest on the jagged lurking shapes that form the Spine of the World.

Hollow in the Hills
In a small depression here, the hills and ridges rise round you. These form

almost perfect bowl here sheltering you from the weather. At one time there
must have been water indicated by the dry cracked ground at the bottom of

depression but that was a long time past.

Next to a Small Hill
To the east rises a small hill surrounded by impassable brush. Over the
hill to the east you can see the shapes of the Spine of the World rising,
truly a massive sight. The only way to go is south through the bushes or
north through a shallow depression. The vegetation dried and stunted as it
is, blocks passage in all other directions.

It is quiet here, hardly a sound can be heard from any of the animal life
if there is any in this area. It is slightly dusty here and not very well
traveled. The foliage on the trees is sparse and the branches twisted and

The path twists off to the south and west here. To the southwest there is a
large hill and its size forces all travel around it. The path is bordered
by scrub oak and thick grass and any travel off the path seems to be

This small indistinct game trail runs directly north and south. Straight
off to the west rises a large hill. Its bulk dominates the area and forces
travel around it. Some rocks and dirt can be heard sliding down the hill,
likely dislodged by the hillside's smaller inhabitants.

This narrow path curves around a large hill and continues to the north and
the west. The stunted trees give way to scrub oak and bushes climbing the
hill. Chattering animals can be heard among the rocks lining the path and

Around a Large Hill
To the south this faint path enters a narrow gully. There is a large hill
north of you and the path curves around it to the east. The trees here are
short and somewhat stunted and low branches make following this path
difficult. It seems very quiet here and the woods are devoid of life.

Above a Valley
To the south a valley opens, mostly round in shape. This small gully
continues on to the north. This seems to be a common path for animals and
others whose tracks you do not recognize. The walls here are rather steep
and north or south are the only directions possible.

Top of a Rocky Valley
The valley floor rises here towards the rim. Farther to the south is the
bottom of this area that looks like a crater. The walls funnel you towards
the north and this appears to be the only exit from this valley heading
north. Off to some small stones can be heard tumbling down the cliff side.

In the Rocky Valley
The valley is quite wide here and is unusually deep for this area. It seems
almost unnatural. The jagged hills around this valley give the impression
of a giant crater. To the north the valley opens further. To the east a

Far North in the Rugged Hills
For a great distance southeast the Spine of the World stands proud and
functions as a gateway between the Waste beyond the mountains and the world
of the so-called wetlanders in the west. This is so far north that the end
of the Spine isn't far to the east. There is a small path here leading east
and north between the rugged hills.

The Mouth of a Gorge
Like a dried-out river this gorge cuts through the hills as if they were
butter. The gap between the hillwalls on the eastern and western side of
the gorge is about fifteen feet and it's easy to get claustrophobic.
Popular legend whispers there is a gorge deep within these rugged hills
that crushes people that try to pass through it. The landscape is harsh
enough that the scratches and formations in it resemble bones.

charred circle forms a precise shape upon the earth, as if something with a

Passing the Town of Selean
The pass cuts through the Spine of the World, allowing passage into the
Aiel Waste to the east. To the northwest, Kinslayer's Dagger cuts into the
sky, throwing its shadow across the pass itself. The air is hot and
oppressive, and the rocky ground looks devoid of moisture. The pass
continues to the east and west. Right outside the pass, a town is visible,
some of its buildings derelict, while others are clearly inhabited as
people attempt to rebuild after the Aiel War.

on the mountainside, there is something even stranger. Just below the snow

structures makes them stand out against the dark mountains. There even
appears to be some sort of dock, slanting down the mountainside. The pass
continues through the Spine to the east and west.

Bruh, all along I was like "There is no fking way that Vianca did not find the corpse." You get there and everything is there just for her to walk in shortly after. And then you almost died zerk again. *Grin*
