New Bank Changes

Post by Porin » Mon Aug 14, 2017 12:13 am

New Bank system may help prevent duping but it also heavily punishes legit players with a very poor design. Any change that has an adverse effect on those who play by the rules should be frowned upon. I hope Immortals realize this and look into a more reasonable change.

Having to wait to be fully healthy to withdraw? Lol what? Truly you see how silly this is right? I mean, do you really want everyone just making gold alts because that's what'd going to happen. Folks will grow tired of having to wait so long for their money and will no longer utilize your system. Do you want to do away with banks or promote them? As it stands right now, it looks like you want to do away with the banking system by annoying folks.

Ok, if you guys want to be stubborn about this change, at least let us make full withdraws from our account instead of parsing it out so much.. 100 gold is not going to cut it for any serious trader. Ever. Hell it won't even cover h/h'ing or repractices. Please let me make full withdraw if you want to cut me up.

I change weapon setups almost every day and h/h new weapons daily, I haven't had any problem with the bank yet. Doesn't the change only impact like the last hour before boot?

There has been no announcement of any changes. What are they?

We were told it was to prevent an abused bug near boot, and you have to be full health to withdraw a limited amount of gold (10 or 100 gc). It works just fine outside of that time period, so if you need to prepare for a big trade, then pull out cash at a different time.

I'm sorry if you're inconvenienced by this, but when you look at the options, this is really the option that harms law abiding players the least.

Option 1: do nothing.
This would mean the cheaters will always have more money than other players. Even though we do not have a gold driven economy, they will still have an advantage over others.

Option 2: remove banks entirely prior to boot.
This would put an end to any cheating, but also impact law abiding players who play around boot.

Option 3: what we have.
Restricts withdrawls as boot approaches, but at least you can still withdraw. Getting the money for honing/hardening will take you up to 3 ticks, but the honing/hardening itself takes 12 ticks, so that shouldn't be an issue. For other purposes, I'd suggest withdrawing at other hours and keeping some cash stored in a rent, or dealing with what we have.

No, in an ideal world, the good people shouldn't suffer due to the bad ones. However, WoTmud is not an ideal world, because in an ideal world we'd also have readily available coding access to present better solutions to these problems. As it is, this was the most fair and balanced one at our disposal.

I'm somewhat ok with the change, since I overwrote my "withdraw" command to an alias that converts coppers to crowns and then has my char says the magic words. But I have two problems with the change:

1) it is not consistent. Sometimes the mobol withdraw doesn't work at certain cities, sometimes it does. Are we going this path or not? My cleverly-crafted alias won't work with multiple clauses.

2) the withdrawal limit of 100 crowns. This is not enough for a few common needs (hardening costs 150gc, a reset at lv 51 costs 200gc, a set of equipment costs 500gc). Please at the very least raise the withdrawal limit to 200gc to account the first two uses of high gold requirement?

Simply having 1 backpack in a central rent that contains 2000 crowns should be enough for virtually all your pre-boot needs.

That is clever as hell... But is it legal...? Seems like loophole abuse.

I'm no official voice, but pretty sure this is not abuse. Hell, this was the only way DS could store any money back before they were given a bank to use.

Confirmed not abuse, per Elysia :P
