Re: Google employee echo chamber dude
Reads a hell of a lot like a misogynist who has a few brain cells to rub together went through great lengths to justify his misogyny, generally in reliance on confirmation bias and generalized statements that find no factual support beyond stereotypes. Also sounds like the same "pseudo-science" that white supremacists spout to justify hating racial minorities.
Re: Google employee echo chamber dude
Seems like a total dung in terms of content and (weak as firetruck) rationale -- and had he went ahead and posted this somewhere publicly (even at the company), I would have zero issues with him getting the boot. However (and I don't know exactly how true this is), he apparently posted this somewhere employees were encouraged to post controversial views and he reportedly posted this looking for feedback. In that context, may have been more appropriate to critique his perspective in that group and see how he responded to that. Not really weeping for him though -- strikes me as the type of shitlord who will wax poetic the right of businesses to do whatever they want in one context and then whine about free speech (which is a protection from the government, not people who think you're an asshole) when a company, perfectly within its rights, fire him.

DailyMail, did not read.
Re: Google employee echo chamber dude
Interesting points he made, but I think it would have been better for people to have been 'inclusive' and talk/debate with him to dissolve his arguments. Firing him stoked a controversy (The guilty couldn't handle an argument?), made known even worse non-inclusive lefts in the company, and then a multitude of women took the next day off because... they had a low level of tolerance?
What if a woman had posted this 10-page piece?

It's always interesting to me when people believe that certain tendancies and differences between the genders are inherently biological, without considering how much societal grooming influences our children as they grow up.
Re: Google employee echo chamber dude
Don't want to comment yet on the subject because I want to hear more viewpoints first.
But w.r.t. to Alima's point, lately I've come to the conclusion that the whole nature vs. nurture debate is basically useless. From a purely scientific perspective (as a very skeptical scientist/engineer myself), I do not think we will be able to definitely prove solid relationships between biology and ability or competence to any level that would actually convince me in my lifetime. There are just too many confounding variables which makes it impossible to perform an actually valid experiment.
Even if we could know conclusively, then what? If we could prove that women are better biologically on average at managing people than men, would we now construct a society where only women can become managers? That would be stupid. We should still try to encourage both girls and boys to be whatever it is they want to be when they grow up. Whether nature or nurture is actually right shouldn't influence our course of action moving forward, so resolving the debate is useless in my mind. We should be striving to give all babies, regardless of gender/race/social class/place of birth/whatever, the opportunities, education, and encouragement to fill whatever role they find interesting. In a free society, the individuals are important, not the population statistics.

Well said.

lol at all these fools who don't understand that biology and culture/environment are intertwined to the point of being hard to separate their effects. this doesn't mean that we can't see sex differences that we are pretty confident come down to sex though. educate yourselves on the fact that there are biological sex differences that impact how each group behaves (individuals of course can vary more within the group than the variance between the groups). https://ifstudies.org/blog/straight-tal ... -tradeoffs
limp wrist liberals like vaen like to believe in blank slates but they're just as delusional as the white nationalists like paj

Because inserting various directed insults into your replies is certainly going to validate what you say and make people want to take notice of your opinion.Drakmyr wrote:lol at all these fools who don't understand that biology and culture/environment are intertwined to the point of being hard to separate their effects. this doesn't mean that we can't see sex differences that we are pretty confident come down to sex though. educate yourselves on the fact that there are biological sex differences that impact how each group behaves (individuals of course can vary more within the group than the variance between the groups). https://ifstudies.org/blog/straight-tal ... -tradeoffs
