Regarding Vivienne

Post by Vampa » Fri Jul 14, 2017 3:43 pm

Several of you have been asking about Vivienne on globals, and I wanted to clear things up regarding Vivienne.

We're still here because of Vivienne, she kept this game alive long past the point that anyone thought it would be. As did the crew that toiled along with her. Now that I am in the role she previously filled, I can tell you that to call it daunting is an understatement. She was not neglectful, as I believe some of you feel, in the least. The forums hold 100 max mails per character, I've had to clear mine twice because it capped out. Previously, I personally wondered 'wtf, why hasn't she responded to my request from last week yet?', now I wonder how she managed to even respond within a week, let alone within a month. Some have joked that I've inherited 100+ kids. It's really closer to 200+, I think. She ran that daycare for over a decade. She had to have had the patience of a saint, or been extremely masochistic. Maybe both. Either way, I can tell you now that I'm the one dealing with it, she deserves thanks, and heaps of it.

I still maintain contact with her, she was an asset to the game that I'm reticent to let go, but she pointed out that were she still active it would usurp my authority after a fashion, and I agree. I appreciate that her concern and focus is still the game and its players. She has been gracious, and helpful, in the face of animosity and hatred. I have the fortune of being the lightning rod, now, that she previously was. I will be the target, now, for good and bad.

I want to make it clear that she is gone by choice, and as a favor to the game and myself, in this transitional period.

She is owed thanks, and if I see anyone at any point speak ill of her or any of the volunteer staff who works to serve you, you will be punished for it.
