Must see in the United Kingdom?

I am pretty excited that I am traveling to the United Kingdom for 2 weeks at the end of October for work. I'm not exactly sure how much free time I will have, but I will get at least 1 full weekend to myself. I'll be staying in Winchester, with access to a vehicle. So... what are some places that I should try to see? I assume the popular answer will be London, and I'm sure London is great, but I'm kind of interested in seeing the less touristy places (at least that is what I think I want to do).
Anyway, just throw some suggestions at me and I'll use them to help decide what to do while I'm there. Thank you!

Best bet is to ignore England and drive over the border to Scotland. Many many sights to see and also mudders to meet!

Aye England is full of the English. Total nightmare
Sadly you're pretty screwed for a drive to Scotland, because you're way too far south. My knowledge of that part of the country isn't huge, but Bristol is supposed to be great, Bath is supposed to be lovely, Dartmouth to the west of you is a beautiful place to visit.
More importantly - what do you like doing?

Bath was the recommendation I got from everyone I met, but I ignored them and went to Edinburgh, which was great, especially with Mangler's input. Cambridge is really pretty.

If the weather is nice, I like scenic hiking or walking. I enjoy looking at old buildings and historical places. I enjoy pubs with good food and drink.
I hear the train system is excellent... that might also expand my options.

Yeah go to Scotland, that's where Hogwarts is.
I always like walking around London and taking the tube to different things. Lots to see. Really good Iraqi food couple blocks from Harrod's.

Access to a vehicle: watch out for all those bastards who drive on the wrong side of the road!!

Bath or Bristol would be good choices, fairly close to.

Edit: Just saw this part.. Train fares can be very expensive and the network is still trying to get out of the Victorian age!

Yeah I was looking at train routes via google maps. Even on the train, looking at 8hr 1 way trip up to Scotland (Glasgow/Edinburgh). I'm starting to think Scotland may not be feasible for this trip.
Bath and Bristol both seem very probable though.

Oxford would be a good bet. It's full of the old colleges to wander around, bit nicer than Cambridge imo. Pubs are good and plentiful as it's got lots of students in the area. Blenheim Palace is just north of Oxford too and has to be seen to appreciate the scale.
Bath or Bristol (Brissle if you speak in the West Country dialect) are both good too. Plenty of local cider.
