A gold duping bug was reported, should the auction stay on or not?
A gold duping bug was reported, should the auction stay on or not?
All,
A gold duping bug that Flash had thought he had fixed, has apparently not been fixed. It essentially allows a person to create a full bank account effortlessly.
While I know some individuals who are currently bidding have been farming gold by hitting mobs, killing inno's and a variety of other options, there is a chance that people are or will be bidding who abused this gold duping bug. That means that anyone who earned money legitimately may be at a disadvantage.
If we stop the auction now, there's no telling on whether we can actually remove the duped gold from the game. We could just be shoving the problem ahead of us. There's no telling on whether the bug will actually be fixed, since it's coding. Flash has been alerted, but it was supposedly already fixed and... here we are. This could mean that auctions are postponed indefinitely.
If we don't stop the auction now, some cheater may end up winning due to their cheating. It would remove the ill gotten gold from the game though and if the bug is fixed, that would be the end of that.
It's your choice, really.

Re: A gold duping bug was reported, should the auction stay on or not?
There's been a lot of trolling bids and cheaters. Just start it over?!
Re: A gold duping bug was reported, should the auction stay on or not?
Personally I think it's a no brainer. Cancel it and offer the items as in game rewards for excellent in character accomplishments, mini-quests or what have you. That way you can control it to an extent. It may yet end up with the same people, but it's "better" that way.
Re: A gold duping bug was reported, should the auction stay on or not?
I'm actually going to spin this around.
Just let it continue, let people use the gold they have, let people have the nice things they're bidding for. Its just a game, its just text. Knowing about the bug now can allow for monitoring in the future, but for now, let the nice eq in the game and let the people still playing have fun.

Re: A gold duping bug was reported, should the auction stay on or not?
I'm with Paj on this. I have no intention of bidding higher than I already have on anything (pretty sure I've lost on everything too!), but if letting the auction continue is the most efficient way to get this gold out of the game, I say just go through with it and put the items in the game.
Re: A gold duping bug was reported, should the auction stay on or not?
I'd say let it run its course.
I find it amazing, when I dropped a bush and killed Kyr on an alt awhile ago, that coding was changed within a week. It doesn't compute! Can we not somehow log this stuff?

Re: A gold duping bug was reported, should the auction stay on or not?
Give the items to players who will actually use them. People who bid on 5 things gonna get them and never use. But doesn't matter really, let the auction run its course.
Re: A gold duping bug was reported, should the auction stay on or not?
Can you at least name and shame on who has been doing this?
There are only a few score players left, we can police our own.

Re: A gold duping bug was reported, should the auction stay on or not?
Aye at what Astolfo said.
Re: A gold duping bug was reported, should the auction stay on or not?
I alone can change things, Karven. Perhaps if this duping bug ends with Astolfo burying me in gold crowns, I will get it changed within a week as well. Perhaps!
