See you all later.

Post by toribio » Sun Dec 20, 2015 3:18 pm

I am taking a break. I am very sick of dealing with bs on this game. Common sense just goes right out the door by players and imms alike. I have been playing this game since 2001 and over that time I have witnessed tons of crap good and bad. Some of it directed at me and a lot of it directed at others I know. I have just been jobbed over by the immortals who have no clue. They informed me my city hit was not valid. I was given reasons of light side not being able to defend properly. This is comical as there was 4 light side on at the time, 2 of which were statters. Yes lightside eventually came to the city but only after we had already killed the king and were locked in the damn throne room for 20 mins. At 30 minutes I posted on facebook to see if an imm could at least see whats going on with the door. At this point some lightside logged on to be opportunistic and try to catch us. Even with 4-5 Light side around I had the gate key and jump exits and fireworks out the wazzoo and basically had a 5% chance of not making it out.

Not only did my hit not count I was told I should be happy that the imms aren't punishing me for loophole abuse. ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!! Loophole abuse when we didn't even see 1 light side player to attempt to abuse said loophole.

I took me close to 45 days to plan out and get enough people to do this hit. Think about that, 45 freakin days of trying to convince people to log on at a certain time. So all of that aside, a game should not piss me off as much as I am now so I am stepping away.

Way to go IMM's way to push another long time player away with horrible decision making.

player of Toribio/Protus/Sarene and countless others.

Pretty sure you guys hit before the bug was common knowledge too, being posted about by the imms. I'm sad to see you go Protus your a top bloke. Dont forget to drop into IRC or swing me a skype. This is a bad judgement call.

I was a participant on this hit of Cairhein for Toribio on one of my trollocs. This seems an extremely rough call considering the actual logistics of the event. If the bug about rats was known or unknown it makes no difference. Lightside never once mustered enough to hit us until we publicly notified Immortals that there was an issue with the throne room via social media (facebook). This is certainly something that the players would not have done had the game be working as intended. Scizzor was outside the hit for the majority of the time we were trapped inside the throne room giving us updates on human numbers and locations. The numbers never approached anything that could possibly fight us until after our emergency notification. Had the throne been working correctly DS would have been in and out before LS even showed up.

All the best mate, I hope you can find something that doesn't frustrate you so. Drop into irc like tempest said. Don't be a stranger :)

Sounds typical. Take care sir. If you succesfully quit clue me in on the secret. I'm in process also.

Does seem unduly harsh to be certain. Imms could have quite easily had a 5 minute conversation with people involved. I can understand the cancellation of Scizzor hit (as I actually did have a 5 minute conversation with some people who were on LS about that), but the Cair hit we were in and out so quickly (or would have been, had a seperate bug not trapped us...).

The threat of punishment for bug hole abuse seems a rather unfortunate attempt to bully you into shutting up by whoever the imm you talked to was. Sorry to see you go! Just man up and let's go find another bughole to abuse and get you another city! :P

People do quit though Razhak. Its why we only see 30-40 (if lucky) players at peak times that we see now daily (1-16) total for non peak pacific/euro morning hours). Why we have such a low playerbase is difficult to understand especially when I see other muds on the vote list getting thousands of people in and out?!?! The market for muds obviously still exists and we need to tap into it if the mud wants to be around in another 5 years. Sure you can blame some of it on crashes and downtime following hacking attempts or w/e but things like this happening aren't right.

While it is well and good to say "do another city" the logistics of it are awful as it stands. Though i understand why it's risky and/or difficult. The truth is that just getting people together now is harder than it ever has been and it isn't going to improve. Often to make a group to do a city the master organising the attempt has to poach players from LS just to make up numbers for a group, weakening defensive efforts and defeating the purpose of the hit really.

DS requires a group of 10ish? to take cities(obviously this varies based on the target). Trying to find times when 10 people can get together and play for 1.5-2 hour period is extremely difficult outside of the muds peak times. Times that some of us cannot possibly play due to basic life requirements work/school/kids/whatever. The answer of "you might just have to log in at X stupid hour for the opportunity" is a joke and just isn't possible for some.

Toribio was trying for weeks to gather enough trolls to do the hit and was just lucky there were a few ring ins and friends who we asked to stay up far later than we should have. The city hit was flawless except for ingame bugs that have been around since before Shzrei faded back in the mid 2000's that were never addressed. The humans had no hope of defending that city with the players online and the hit should count.

Not Toribios fault the game is buggy, nor was the rat issue even posted before we hit afaik.

A good guy to have around regardless of what side was being being played, forced away by poor judgement of a well known and long standing bug. As Spyder mentioned, player numbers are constantly low these days and this wont help anyone.

You'll be missed bud.
