Or, we could fix the current bugs, like 'view TA'. before adding a ton of more laggy mobol.

Ironically, increased player activity has driven up game lag recently, while we've been cutting away costly mobol. Lag certainly isn't just mobol, but also killing things in general. In that sense, more Tinkers would be good. ;)

Although I do think it would be a better idea if something like has been proposed was coded.

There are campfires spread across the mud, these do anything? Can resting at one of these existing camp fires give a bonus somehow?

Those campfires mark buildable patties, they just aren't used very often.

I think they idea they are going for with this new idea is to be able to "craft" a campfire wherever the group is to help them regen outside of an smob not to have a permanent feature in select locations.
