game of houses
Anyone have any creative or cool ways we could bring something like this into the game? I feel like we're really missing this but, I don't have any really creative doable ideas that we could even begin to pursue. figured it'd be fun to hear what other creative minds come up with and how we could impliment it for the Rising Sun and Cairhien.
Re: game of houses
Wasn't Daes Dae'mar already somehow implemented with the war system and treasurers? At least that's how I understood it from those posts....
Re: game of houses
So, I had this this idea that all clans should be given X amount of mobs. Through treaties and agreements, backhand or up front through treaties etc.. you could designate X amount of mobs to a zone.
For example:
1. making a deal with the wolfbrothers discreetly, and suddenly more wolf mobs start loading around Cairhien.
2. making a deal with Andor through a treaty where both nations send a patrol of their own to help protect a key room outside the other's cities.
Something that allows us finite resources and to allocate them where we want within reason, to build strategy and shape the game. For example, in a zone like white bridge that has no real mob support for small numbers i.e. 2v2 outside of maybe capture the flag, maybe Andor makes an arrangement with the Red Eagles and the red eagles decide to send Three farmers or Two farmers that sit allw of caemlyn that give Seanchan and Humans a place to fight with different numbers vs going straight into white bridge with call mob.
What are your thoughts on this?

Re: game of houses
Well one thing I can think of is that in the books when people did Da'es Da'mar stuff they threw a lot of parties
where all this happened. So more illuminator and gleeman shows!
edit: could just have like a weekly big RP event where you invite everyone (or selected people), have shows, and people RPing stuff (maybe DS hits it *cough* and causes chaos), but this is where peolpe can talk about treaties or w/e ? Like have these as the designated RP events..so if Lancers want to make a treaty with uhh Wall Guard..then we will try to meet their representative by sending someont to this party. But then maybe someone from uhh Civil Watch overhears the convo and is like "We also!" etc.
Could have an mob there, where only things decided to / attended by people here will be acknowledged. So at the end if we agreed to something, I have to and the other person has to go up to that mob and say "xyz clan agrees to xyz thing" and then the imms will note that as a change or w/e. And Tower gets privileges etc (since they invented hte game

Re: game of houses
Treaties with clans and treasuries are part of the Game, are they not?
X clan can decide on a treaty with Y clan while paying Z clan to start a war with Y clan...for whatever reason, and also pay a spy in Y clan to get info when that clan is planing on attacking Z clans general, so a trap is set. Clan Y can also spy on clan X or Z and find out about the double-cross and play the Game with that info. In theory at least...
And then victory conditions are set as the final "move" in that Game.
As per the treasury post ( http://forums.wotmud.info/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8458 ) "if you have another idea that you feel will fit, feel free to contact or mail imms and we might add it" - so Granit's idea could work with Imms blessing.
If for example Eagles have a treaty with Queens Guard, and both clans pay X amount to exchange patrols - Eagles send the 3-mob patrol N of WH (near brigands) to all W of WB, while Queens Guard sends some of Aringil guard mobs to Old Bridge (or all W of it, if that's not Eagle territory, can't remember...).
Another option is to have new mobs made for this, same level, same gear just mob name changed to i.e. - An Andoran military attaché is standing here.
Conditions would be it's only for a RL month or two (to see how it affects the game, at first), each clan paying....10k? Some small-ish amount since it's not a standard or huge patrol, nor a new one, just moving some mobs to a an area that has none or very little mob support.

Re: game of houses
Okay now i'm totally lost :p
it kind of sounds like you're describing normal pk except with mobs in diff zones ?

Re: game of houses
Granit's idea will never work, because it would be far too labor intensive for imms, plus it would throw balance completely out of whack. Most clans will opt for mobs Andor or by Fal Dara, which would just mean mobs pile up in those areas.
Plus if every clan has a finite amount of mobs, then you're saying that Jehannah and Andor should have the same amount of mobs, which will simply never work.
Lastly, even if just counting SS and Tower as one entity, including secret clans and Wisdoms, there'd be like 20 clans. Even a best case scenario where only 1/4 of that list uses this = aforementioned flooding but also = a ton of work. If any clan can make more than one treaty, it gets exponentially worse.
So no, just not tenable.

Re: game of houses
it could only be possible through code, which from what I understand is difficult in this game for a lot of reasons. We just don't have the resources to do these types of things.
Without solid code, it would be too labor intensive, agreed.
Andddd Granit is the least favorite of the rising sun so it's definately on the NWIH list

Re: game of houses
Illian is still waiting for a mob or two to be added to Tar Valon because of a treaty made last year. I'm not complaining. I understand sometimes these things take a long time, or sometimes never materialize. Just adding weight to the major workload issue for immortals point.
Re: game of houses
upgradeable or differrent types of barracks mobs being issued... like give the lancers 1000 gc per rl month and you can issue a tank mob with like 50 more hp etc etc
