In an effort to add to the player-base, I'll be adding the {Mael Mahdi'in} to my alts, to signify that I am a Newbie Helper and can be counted on, at any time, to guide new players in the basics of the MUD and to equip them in a basic kit to survive. I'll ask for tells from any player when he/she comes across a true newbie who wishes to learn the mud, if that player cannot or will not be able to spend the time to help the newbie.

I've read countless recollections of new players that have had positive experiences with senior players which grew and shaped that new player's path forward. For a reference, I first played around 1995-1996 and the positive experience of senior players at that time shaped my love of this game to this day. There are too many players to name that have given me a positive experience, before, during and after numerous rage-quits.

That is what we need to move forward and keep current. Lessenign the learning curve, or at least soften the blow, of exping before learning the value of zmud/mudlet and associated maps is an important step but giving positive and supportive role models and guides is equally important.

If I've never played here before I would never in a million years know that's what a newbie helper is haha! I think perhaps they should bring that tag or clan back and allow people to get involved again but, that's a side note.

I think this is helpful that you're willing to foster new players though, so for that I tip my hat to you.

Elysia, can we revisit some of the website discussion that was braught up earlier in the thread? I also wanted to discuss with you what all of our options look like in terms of advertising and any ideas the immortal staff has on this topic.

Sorry, I know little to nothing about websites in terms of how they work. I'm also way too busy trying to survive my mailbox, so I don't have any time for anything else atm. Even my promising gate defense solution has been dead in the water for days because I get pounded with questions.

Most of it will just be you proposing some of the minor changes to the site that would create more traffic. However, you'd probably have to discuss that with NASS or Austin would have to pass it along because we peasants are not allowed to communicate with him directly (and for good reason haha!) :D

Besides that, I understand if you can't get to it any time soon. Should we defer to Austin or another imm in the meantime or is this our only avenue for change?

Vampa and Itesh are more often in contact with Flash than I am, so they would have been your go-to person anyway. They're also more likely to know what you're talking about. :P
