Wotmud Goals - What motivates you to play?

Some conversations I had with friends got me thinking. Are wotmud goals what drive players to continue playing?

For older players who are at the echelons in PK, who kind of wotmud goals would continue to motivate you to play the game?

I am really thinking about this as we are a 20 year old game. while there are many goals a newbie can seek to achieve, can something else or more be created for players who have reached the “peaks” to continue to seek new heights? What do you find fun or motivates you to play in wotmud?

For me personally, my wotmud goals are mostly pk oriented. I want to learn how to get better, get kills, survive against odds. While I no longer get pk shakes as I did in 2003-2004, I enjoy the thrill of PK, fighting and seeking to win the battles through taking risks.

What about you? Please share your thoughts! would be interesting to hear everyone’s views.

Perfecting my client setup, and sharing what I have learned of zMUD and cMUD scripting with the community.

Helping add information to the wiki to help slay the FOFY beast and keep a historical record of the game.

Maintaining an updated map (zMUD/cMUD) that corresponds with the zone pages on the wiki.

Smobbing and hoarding text....

Clan related activities that promote a more bookish RP experience.

Helping others...

Pk oriented as well. Still things to do and things to see.

Alternatively have joined a couple clans that are considered 'RP' clans. It's interesting as it's not my strongest area.

Good question!

I came back a few months ago, just to check in on the game. What got me started is the rerolls - got some nice ones on chars I didn't really get to play last time around, including a FC.

Then I found out the Tower is a lot more fun than I remember (esp as I have erratic playing times, which didn't work out last time). Also, the rank 8 bonusses are something to look forward to... though I wish I didn't waste so much QPs the first time on mobs and other random stuff

But for me, I generally focus on short-term goals:
- Getting my Accepted to Aes Sedai, checking out AS/Warder things
- Getting a new alt clanned

...we'll see what happens from there.

And pretty much all I do is PK-oriented. Questing so I can PK better. Smobbing so I can PK better.
What I also like is the community in-game, here and on Discord. It's welcoming! Thank you.

This is the only reason I stuck around as long as I did and still pop in every once in a while. Though it is shawling that keeps me locked in, rather than a wolfbrother.
