"Market analysis"

Post by Sanguine » Thu Aug 01, 2019 11:57 pm

With all the new additions to crafting, TP sinks, gold being more valuable, draughts less accessible, etc., can some of those more immersed in the processes and new marketplace give a summary of all the "market related" things? Like what is gold used for, what are TPs used for, how many TPs are flowing into the game and out of the game, how the craftable rares are affecting things, etc.?

This is a partially selfish request, but I suspect I'm not the only player who has not been able to keep up with all the goings on. And perhaps it will open up discussion about the parts that are working (e.g., uses for gold) and the parts that aren't working (e.g., not TP accrual or how it has effected ta/rea), and how it could get even better.

Tps are diminishing rapidly and their associated value continues to increase. They were starting st something like 250 crowns ea when the token system was introduced to a value now exceeeding 500ea.

With minimal loading in pk, the only real avenue is killing smobs for a couple or targetting darkside clan heads. I expect their value to continue to rise as players continue to cash out their existing tps for tokens until tokens themselves reach well over 1000 crowns each, there is no real system in place to keep them at a "reasonable" value in the eyes of the WoTMUD consumer as there are such limited numbers of turn points actually entering the game versus the numbers leaving the system.

As far as trading goes, seems like more and more players are using treasury values to determine item cost and value which seems silly for some items and reasonable for others (shocklance 12k lol?) Jcuffs though seem like the current premium density currency in the economic climate we have. Shown as much by the turn in number on Elysias post.

All in all it has been interesting to watch people get squeezed for their valuable possesions at what i would consider sub market price.

Moral of the story here? Read all the bazaar and discord bazaar before you go selling or buying things.

I use the treasury as a base value of what I'm willing to sell, an item for.

I've sold them for more than the value of the treasury, but I won't take less (outside of the "friend" price.)

Edited because I meant to only talk about selling, rather than buying.

Worth noting that TPs are generated from PK, though I’m not sure how well it competes with smobbing. 12 TPs are given for a Pkill on a level 51 character even if they have 0 tps - so you should always be getting something and for anyone < 60 tps it means some are completely new rather than just transferring between players.
