If mobol is all we have to work with, wouldn't a "letter of credit" essentially accomplish this?
Give Trusty Banker 3000 crowns and he gives you a "letter of credit for 3000 crowns"
You then can store this item, saves you one stored item over storing a bag of gold. The real potential benefit here is if you allow higher allotments to be traded for letters of credit.
Give Trusty Banker 20000 crowns and he gives you a "letter of credit for 20000 crowns"
Give Trusty Cashier "letter of credit for 20000 crowns" and the cashier gives you 20000 crowns.
Side benefit, makes hauling huge amounts of gold around quite light.

the letter is a neat idea, but I'm also wondering, since a lot of coding changes have been allowed over the last 1-2 years, perhaps we could revisit the idea about fixing banker code?
I'm still a fan, like in my original post, why have limits at all, or if needed, make it just insanely high, like 1,000,000 crowns or something.

You make a good point about there actually being some code changes recently. I would think it should be as easy as re-typing bank values as DINT rather than INT, which would take the limit from 65,535 copper to 4,294,967,295 copper(214,748,364 crowns). Though could be more complex than that and I just don't know.

I think there have been issues in the past with bug abusers duping items, and there have been limits applied to withdrawing because people abused that as well. Just some possible factors to consider from things I've heard.
