Re: America....
I made this thread with the intention , that ..I hoped that America would be thinking straight tomorrow. What you do effects us all, you sneeze and we get the flu!
Considering the majority of folks consider America to be the most powerful Nation etc etc, we should all look to you to make some common sense type choices.
For the love of anything you believe in, don't swear in a man who will ruin your Country for you and your children.. Yeah even those without kids, you will ruin the Country for others who have a more level headed mindset.
Trump is everything that is wrong with your Country, everything. He embodies it in a over bearing orange skinned cover. He really is dumb as .....You see everyday memes, posts and so on about him. Most of them are factual and well sourced. [If not exaggerated].
A lot of prominent people dislike him, his party most certainly are backing away from him. He ..that man, will have control over nuclear buttons and your lives.. Don't let him near them, he is a failure of a human being.

Re: America....
This is a valid point, though I think there are enough big cases pending cert or that have been granted cert that will ruffle the hard-right's feathers enough. Most of the Circuit courts have more liberal majorities, which means that 4-4 splits in the Supreme Court more often leave in place a more liberal ruling from the Circuit court (i.e. the union case last term from California). I think a few more of those examples will lead to a shift in the mindset that the Court can function as an 8 member body (Ted Cruz's ridiculous statements, for example).Maegon wrote:That's assuming the senate would even do their jobs of hearing a Clinton nomination.pial wrote:I thought it went without saying that there's going to be at least one supreme court nomination and possibly more during the term of our next president. Seeing as how that could impact law and the direction of the country for decades it's something I would assume people considered?!
Re: America....
Yeah, I took their posturing as a way to get more votes for house and senate seats! At the same time though I didn't think they could get away with obstructing for 6 years and then not paying for it by losing credibility and or being voted out.
Re: America....
I understand your frustration, but it's honestly not worth the stress. This thread will be seen by such a small group of Americans that it won't make a difference. With my state firmly locked in for Hillary, my vote for her doesn't make a difference in this election either. It sucks. I spent a huge chunk of this weekend racing in Canada and trying to explain to them why this vote was even close, but in the end, we just have to ride out whatever happens.Firimei Lang wrote:I made this thread with the intention , that ..I hoped that America would be thinking straight tomorrow.
Re: America....
It seems less of a thread you started about the election in America than a thread about "Trump is bad, vote Hillary" which is shaming other people's opinions and their own educated or uneducated right to vote. A majority of what you say about Trump can likewise be said about Hillary. It's opinion and based on research/news.Firimei Lang wrote:I made this thread with the intention , that ..I hoped that America would be thinking straight tomorrow. All in all i think they both are most dishonest, crooked, vile and unethical presidential candidates, but Hillary has made a career of being dishonest, crooked, vile and unethical.
You have said and repeated your point, repeating it more only devolves your statements without more proof or background to your opinion. I stated mine and I left it at that.

With all due respect Paj and I do respect you as a person. Yes you are quite right, hence making the post. I think you will find Trump the vile and unethical one.
In many eyes he acts like an immature child at best. With nothing to back up his tantrums.

Re: America....
This thread has been entertaining but when it comes down to it, the 50 or so Americans who play this game(and maybe I'm being generous with that number), really have no influence on the outcome of this election at all.
I'm going to go "throw my vote away" by voting for some 3rd party candidates tomorrow.

Re: America....
It has been ..interesting at least to observe the responses. I am glad there were no flames cast, it has been a well moderated approach to my OP. Which has always been in favour of NOT VOTING TRUMP.
It is weighing on my mind and I know whatever happens it can't be swayed by our population here. Just wanted to make sure Trump supporters knew what they were letting themselves in for. By casting my views and observing the responses.

Re: America....
I like you Firimei and think you are a nice person. I even voted for Hillary but I did think you came either to the line or crossed the line a few times in this thread in the way you characterized groups of people. People can have different values than you and can feel different ways about different principles than you, it isn't necessary to insinuate people are evil for voting for someone you deem evil. In many places in the United States the culture is so overwhelmingly conservative that to not vote Trump would mean you're the only one in your family not voting for him. I don't think it's fair to judge people so harshly for not wanting to go against their family and friends (and that's how it would be viewed in those places, as well as their vote wouldn't matter in those places either).

Re: America....
Well yes I apologise for coming across that way Pial and others. Although it saddens me that people would have to vote one way, as not to alienate a loved one who should respect your wishes.
It really scares me the thought of Trump in power, what he is capable of and it isn't anything good in my eyes [ a lot of others see it the same as well].
I hope it works out for you all, I really really do. My own Country is a mess with the whole Brexit thing [ I voted remain], the amount of people who regretted voting out and who had literally no idea it would affect the vote...It was unbelievable.
Thank you Pial for being quite level headed and well using common sense, the type I was commenting on and I lost my way slightly.
