How should I come back?
Re: How should I come back?
I don't mean this harshly but - you sound a little burnt out. Or at least like I get when I'm burnt out. Which is a shame because I think you add a lot to the game and I'd rather you didn't take a break.Paj wrote:Just me then. Sorry.

Seconded! I also still owe Paj a fancy abs sword and I'd feel guilty if I never paid my debt.Naerin wrote:I don't mean this harshly but - you sound a little burnt out. Re: How should I come back?
I think Rigs and Paj were more pointed to the WB and other "secret " clans out there. I tried for months on 2 completely different chars. 1 was me as I am and 1 was me trying my best to make sure no one knew it was me and I stayed quiet and out of sight basically. Both were shot down for no reason what so ever. I was given fake "startup" quests and just made a fool out of on Dixon before I was ever lancer or known for my alts. Which sucked and basically ruined LS for me. There is A LOT of "old school" players who see things one way and refuse to see it another. People hold grudges for years like Shzrei has pointed out. I think secret clans should be a little harder to get into but with the way the player base is now there's no reason why if someone wanted to make a WB they shouldn't have a fair legitimate chance to. And not be at the whim of however certain players are feeling at the time.
Re: How should I come back?
It is people being people and that's not gonna work for a player base of our size. I'm not saying we open the floodgates and start spam clanning into gaidin/wb/xxx ajah/ect. I just think at the rate it goes now is too slow for the dying breed of players that are mudders, and that most of these people should be given a modicum of a chance.
I am for the people in this case, even though I don't want any of these things or more of them around!

Re: How should I come back?
I say we just implement 'tell guardian clan me xyz'.
Re: How should I come back?
Gleeman is having the opposite trouble. I've been wanting to clan anyone who asks on the spot and still can't convince anyone

Re: How should I come back?
I can't really speak for secret clans, but certainly the last 3 or 4 characters I had clanned (some of them in what are sometimes considered 'elite friends only' clans) I managed to do so without having to rely on OOC connections or telling people my other alts to be judged from. Just keep your head down and follow clan requirements, and assuming you meet them you should have a good chance of getting into a clan. It's not as doom and gloom as some people think!
Conversely I know of several people who thought they were blackballed because of some indiscretion on alts, when realistically as far as I know there wasn't any widespread discussion or realisation of the connection between the two. It's easy to get frustrated if you think you have to 'know the right people', but for a lot of clans that's just about following their rules and making a good impression on the alt you're applying on.
Realistically though if you're just entirely frustrated by the process, take a break, it might be the game that's frustrating you rather than an individual clan.

Petra tried to bribe me. Didn't work, authors don't make enough moneyPetra wrote:I can't really speak for secret clans, but certainly the last 3 or 4 characters I had clanned (some of them in what are sometimes considered 'elite friends only' clans) I managed to do so without having to rely on OOC connections or telling people my other alts to be judged from.
Re: How should I come back?
It's interesting, the players who consistently complain about the same "issues". I recently posted on the hate for rogues thread, and said that it's ok to be biased, but that it's necessary to recognize your bias and take it into consideration when presenting your argument or idealism. This applies to all things.
Some of you have consistently made the same complaints over the years. I wonder if you think that you do so only on one alt, and I wonder if you for some reason believe this isn't going to play a role in how players react to you. Just pointing it out. If you cry constantly, people are going to lump you into the same boat as those others that cry. Gaidin for instance is not hard to get into. At all. As Naerin and Petra pointed out, it's simply about following the clan rp and requirements. And it's simply time consuming. Nothing more.
Why does the current generation seem to feel that working towards a goal and having to put your full effort/ time into something is detrimental and negative? How is it wrong to judge a player on their actions?
It's like the rogues complaining about not being allowed to fade and remain a rogue. Suck it up boys and girls. That's just the way things are. And it's not at all unfair. Most of you sabotage yourselves and then whine as if you genuinely don't understand why.
If things don't play out the way you want, then it's a massive conspiracy against you. Kind of comical. If you're, for instance, running around spam scalping on your gaidin app. Do you really think no one is going to notice when you slip away with said scalps? Or eq, whatever? If you're trying to get into Fist or whatever clan, do you really think I'm going to be ok with behavior such as that as well? And yet players will moan and say that we "old school" players have something against them. I can't help but roll my eyes. And generally don't post because these posts are so self serving and whiney.
Let's apply a real life scenario, because some of you are morons and it may make it a bit easier for you to understand. If you're out with mummy and daddy, and they tell you that the only way you're going to get a toy is if you behave correctly and you choose to act out and go against their wishes. Are you still entitled to the reward they promised? Obviously not.
Paj shoot me a message when you get some time.
