lets talk about seanchan
Re: lets talk about seanchan
I actually opened the door to SS in the north, but people haven't picked up on it. I suggested that SS should iron out a treaty with the northern clans and if there is a mutual agreement, I'll jump the admin hoops of removing SS race/ wanted aggro from northern LS mobs. There would have to be a way for Bgs to pardon SS, so the wanted aggro is negated. There would have to be a solid base to make sure people who do break the treaty are punished by either side.
There were a few posts on Deathwatch and Sal Cav/ Lancer forums, but nothing serious has been constructed since May last year. Apparently it's not important enough for players to pursue...
Note that with the clerk in 4k, the scalp turn in issue that someone brought up is essentially done and dealt with.

Re: lets talk about seanchan
I just had a fun idea, lets add another zone.
Seriously.
Blodfest's camp (moveable trolloc camp) should be copied and retrofitted as a Seanchan outpost. Add exit from CoR like DS have to Blodfest and have that be the SS support in the wetlands. Gives LS/DS another smob to hit and SS side another rent somewhere they don't have to run all the way back to Falme. Keep Blodfest, just use it as a template for the Seanchan version.
Damn I'm good.

Re: lets talk about seanchan
Not like Seanchan haven't already migrated to ls/ds. Problem of bringing seanchan up north would be the constant 3 way PK, which is a f*cking pain.
As to the patrol thing, I think you're wrong. I remember when you put a patrol se of wb I think, and it was used and generated better PK and more activity in Andor. Having patrols in different places helps PK whenever it enters those areas, sure patrols won't revive the side, but it will probably make you more likely to PK a seanchan as you know he won't be legging it to Falme, but has mobs to fall back to. Problem with only having patrol EF is the surrounding zones are utter garbage for PK, meaning you have to chase him through Altara - utter garbage - or try to chase him down if he goes to WB, but given he has a headstart he'll get the horses first, and you'll be stuck chasing on low mvs horses, and it is a long ride from wb - ef on haggy horses.
I don't know that SS caters to conservative playstyles, it could be, I think problems are the zones really (from a PK perspective) - at least that has been the main factor of why I never really enjoyed SS. Northern PK is great because the zones are good. It goes Blight-Gap-winding-dusty all zones that you can easily choke up and aren't surrounded by 4 football fields. Sure w dusty/df are somewhat open, but still decent enough that you can choke them up. I mean the second Pk moves north of keep/SG it blows as well, because your survivability skyrockets the second you enter them.
I mean Old Road EF is great for PK, everything else is pretty terrible.

I've only just come back after several years hiatus, so I didn't know about this. Was there ever a method of getting to pk quickly established, or was it more a matter of, "If you make the trek up here, we can help facilitate the pk by removing warrants," type of thing?
Re: lets talk about seanchan
Agreed about the 3 way pk, but unless they're willing to put in a universal enemy target, that's just the way it is on a mud with three races.Saif wrote:Not like Seanchan haven't already migrated to ls/ds. As for people having migrated to LS/DS, that's irrelevant. People, such as myself, who are currently playing LS/DS because SS is unplayable, would probably consider playing their SS alts if the situation changed for the better. I have a very good character on SS that I invested a TON of time into that I would really love to play again, but as things stand, I'm stuck starting from scratch on LS/DS.
Re: lets talk about seanchan
I just think people are focused on the negatives. There are so many positives about SS. I think you have to make it easy to get equipment and easy to stat and then people will come. It's already pretty easy but what if it was even easier?
Also, I don't think there should have to be a treaty. I feel like the mobs should just only aggro darkside up north as I'm sure in the books they wouldn't have attacked anything that wasn't a trolloc. I bet in the books the borderguards saw more crazies like Aiel than anyone else in the world. Probably not feasible but even the stedding could be made Seanchan friendly.
I think patties up north help but you have to also recognise that people will use different resources to scale with the threat. For example one patty is not much good solo against 6 people, so you probably better run. Maybe that's why mob support while useful probably didn't get used every single time when in the middle of the world. However it probably would be used more in a place like up north because you're only really concerned with DS being the threat. Even then DS gets some pretty big groups so its pretty difficult to say what will work but depending on the situation I think anything would be useful at the least. Maybe that makes no sense.
All the PK stuff aside, I think improvements to equipment availability/statting would do wonders for new players on the side. Plenty of unique RP opportunities and new places to explore too.

Re: lets talk about seanchan
The zones being terrible is one of the biggest factors as well as a certain few seanchan ruining Wil by it being turned into a warning signal for shitty pk incoming!
The biggest problem though is the incredibly bad community that's left on this game at this point. There's entitled people, people who sit around on powerful and bonused characters being jerkoffs, as well as just plain boring to fight pkers. I can't even think of many people who will enter pk situations where both sides have a chance to lose! Over a decade ago I'd complain about how people treated wotmud like it was a job and wanted people to put ridiculous amounts of time in just to achieve things on the mud, now the problem is that people treat wotmud like it's their life and if you kill them they take it personally!

Re: lets talk about seanchan
The zones sucking is a very moot point now. Ef/Yandar/THR are great zones still. AD has been choked up pretty tight, and I wouldn't want to run through south TF with a knowledgeable group on my tail. It's not as compact as North pk, but zones haven't been an issue for a long time (since we got ef patty, and kaf narrow, bush, north yandar). Yes, there were people that ran ef patty to Falme, but we have the same dumbasses up north who run KK or TKD as soon as they lose.
Re: lets talk about seanchan
The differences are: 1) those people are like 10% of DS population whereas the SS who run from EF to Falme as soon as they aren't winning are 75%+ and 2) it is 3-4 choked zones to those areas up north vs 7 football fields down south. To put it in perspective: set up me leading a spammer vs a competent, healthy, combo trolloc dusty who's only goal is to run away...I have a decent chance of killing them. Same situation EF vs a competent, healthy, combo seanchan and I have virtually no chance.Maeglin wrote:The zones sucking is a very moot point now. Ef/Yandar/THR are great zones still. Re: lets talk about seanchan
There are so many places in the SW one can run and be almost entirely safe due to regen and how open the zone is. These zones are connected to almost every chokey area so the risk of dying is only for if someone actually purposely takes a risk in pk. Maeglin is one of the people who I have no interest in pking against so it doesn't surprise me that his delusion on how fun ss pk is is up there with Varcoz!
Also with the removal of one of the doors on both the ef patty and the path patty poor Tuk has no options for pk (can't gank with lack of numbers either) so I have no idea why he's even posting on here!
