Re: Lightside Needs Help
Ah I've Pk you a number of times Tamara and not half as bad as you think, look a lot of people are better than they think, one of the best things I learnt to do was Pk low, and stay in control of the situation. Lykan is the one that inspired me to play till the end. Pk is most definitely not over once you hit beat critical, if you learn to control the panic and be able to think clearly, you can easily turn it from them nearly killing you to getting the kill on them.
Anyway I could carry on all day Pk, tactics, I am far from one of the greats, but I've learnt a lot, I've died to the best, killed the best. It's not impossible, nothing is. We all went through the dying 3-4 times a day, having to Pk in crap. Look at Mangler he was terrible until about 3-4 years ago?

Re: Lightside Needs Help
Maybe, but this should be a non-issue. Without seeing confrontation positively no real change can happen. I face this in real life when I try to bipartisan conversation about the political realm during this cycle during class time when I attempt to facilitate discussions.Tamira wrote:maybe thi9s dung half the issue? noone can suggest anything even knowing they niot the best for the job? i'll help smob and re eq them that i can. blah blah blah. otherwise im no9t good for much eiither. sometime s i have ideas. prolly not of much value o i wont bother. inless i had enough drinks i dont care and tomorrow wish i had kept my trap shutLykan wrote:So go do it rather than posting on forums about it like all the other armchair critics around here.
Don't get hurt when you're talking about stuff. Nothing is personal in a conceptual conversation about in game and out of game change (or conversation for that matter).
Re: Lightside Needs Help
Sorry if that came off harsh. My point is that if half the people posting here did half the things they suggested, maybe this wouldn't be an issue. It's sure easy to post on forums about what the "leaders" should do rather than stepping up and doing it yourself in game.
I've run countless pk classes, tournaments, and events across alts and lots of us often take time and spend 30 minutes (that we really don't have) or however long just going over basic stuff like bash timing or dlining/zone tactics with people. I just think if everyone was more personally proactive rather than sitting around here talking about what other people should do to enhance the game, it would be a good start.
Who decides who is "best for the job?" I've played with and against you plenty over the years, there's no reason you can't do any of this stuff. Noone knows everything; the important part is taking the time to share what you do know rather than convincing yourself you aren't good enough to do this stuff.
But yes, I am sure that my posting that people should step up and do things in game is the real issue.

Re: Lightside Needs Help
I agree with you Kilgore but I also think it could be toned down a bit too.
It's like raising a kid (I have none), if you just beat the kid everytime with anger and contempt cause it didn't listen or see the obvious thing to do. You will end up with a person that is too afraid to move or try to be part of whatever is going on.
But if you sit the kid down and then calmly explain things and offer advice and then smack the kid, the kid will learn to think about things before acting, because it knows the consequences and actual knows how to deal with the situation
Not everyone is as smart, witty and resilient as others, I think the worst thing about the social aspect of rhis game is that we forget there are real people behind the characters we play with. Real people that have a really great lives, intelligence and are in control. But we also have people that don't have this confidence. And have probably been through some terrible things. I am one of the people that are constantly fighting to keep my life in control. But it's good cause I can come here and a couple of good mates on here are great, they help uplift me, then other people judge and put a label on you.
I've met so many different people from all the lvls of society, don't instantly judge the person that can't spell or use grammar proper. No one is more superior to anyone, we are all equal, meatsacks that eat poop and say and do funny stuff.
What bugs me is all these people who fancy themselves really smart but do nothing construct with it, except flaunt how smart they are. I don't know over the last few years I've actually started to think about how I want to live my life. I don't know I got sidetracked but the whole point is, positive reinforcement beats negative reinforcement anyday
Just seen your post and I know you well enough to know you didn't mean that as a insult, I know how much work you put into this game. And I am just starting to realise this imms bashing and blaming is really wrong, that's not the biggest issue, they do great work, the issue is how we treat each other. I think it's time for the players finally step up and take some responsibility. The imms can't play the game for us. Like I said Lykan I need to and want to do my part as well but recently I just don't have the time, I am working 70-80 hours a week. I'm not making excuses it's just how it is. I agree with what your saying. And I said I'm the first to admit that I haven't been actively trying to improve things and that needs to change. But if we don't start talking about it here, nothing will ever change, atm I'm limited to browsing the forums at work on my phone.

Re: Lightside Needs Help
I think advertisements on the internet could bring in some new blood. Otherwise it's just a slow bleed to death.
Re: Lightside Needs Help
Playing on LS is pretty depressing honestly. I can't count how many times I've died, while plenty of people in FD sit inside. It's generally to a grip of zerked spread out DSers winding. It would be so easy to just take some initiative. Group people and hit to help. I'm not the best leader by far. Or player for that matter. I am my own worst enemy in trying to keep pk going. I usually get overwhelmed and choked out for my efforts.
Overall I don't know what the answer is for LS. I do however know it gets old dying like this. I've always been pretty decent at being able to survive. I tend to try and help whenever someone is in trouble. I feel like a lot of the time on LS it's like...we might die so let's stay inside. It's annoying to deal with. Playing LS gets me frustrated pretty often when fighting DS. Which used to never happen to me. So In turn this just makes me want to not play entirely. Frustrating because I do love the game.
Map needs shrunk, time has always been a huge issue on this game. Bonuses need downed badly. LS needs to help each other out more. Etc etc.

Elodin is paying for an ad on the MUD site we vote on.Arkan wrote:I think advertisements on the internet could bring in some new blood. Otherwise it's just a slow bleed to death.
We could do something to make a promoted ad at the top of Reddit, but not sure how expensive that'd be. If others would like to go and promote us on Reddit etc, I'd appreciate the help.
Re: Lightside Needs Help
While i appreciate his efforts, advertising to people who already mud and also are on that site, brings in a more limited amount of blood. I'd rather find people who never mudded before advertising somewhere new (like reddit, fbook, wherever). I'd donate. Least I could do after playing here for years. A lot of people would donate. Now that we're all so old, we have more money
