Why is there such a hate on for rogues?
Re: Why is there such a hate on for rogues?
They are no-risk boring fleebies most of the time.
Attack is OP. Particularly vs abs
That's all i got!
Abs needs to be upped 92+
Make failed stabs 2.5 rounds of lag.
I have amazing ideas.

Shops, rents, squares with fountains/barrels should be no hide. I find gates that are no-hide are a luxury that I am happy to enjoy, but not all gates are no-hides.. And GK is no channel which is better than no-hide imo.Loomis wrote:Your spamming in the city 100% of the time argument makes no sense at all...if there is 1 no hide per city, then walk the 10 rooms and sit there. There is absolutely no reason to have gates and dung no hide. That is so counterproductive. They already have crazy gate defences, so why do they need to be no hide? is GK no hide? or any dark side gate for that matter?(maybe TKD??).
Don't forgot on LS you have to watch for SS, DS and same siders. Back in the day you would have more players, which would change two things, 1 - higher chance of encountering stabbers, means more worthwhile to pay attention. 2 - more players around means more eyes and ears to spot raiders.
These days I don't want to spend 100% of my playtime spamming on the less than 1% chance that a SS, DS or samesider is walking around looking for easy stabs.

Re: Why is there such a hate on for rogues?
You (and everyone else, primarily DS players, who hate channies with a passion) already got this years ago. The Tower rule changes meant far fewer Accepted were running around and you can't clan channies in Wisdoms anymore. These are the same kinds of changes - meant to restrict ease of advancement and lower the number of that class active in PK at any one time.Rig wrote:I find channies annoying. Why haven't they been restricted in any way? How come almost every time I get into pk I eat 2, 110 hp weaves while bashed and die from mid wound. You seem to also forget trolls aren't very smart and have low Wil so as Loomis said, the fleelag is so easy to build up, making it that much easier to kill us.
To be honest, this thread is players that primarily play rogues bitching about rules and getting really defensive about the class (seriously, check out the number of posts by rogues vs. posts by anyone else). I'm not surprised, you guys care most about this. But this really isn't gonna be a terribly productive thread. So, carry on I guess.
Re: Why is there such a hate on for rogues?
I guess the real question is, do you see more channies or rogues? Wisdom just clanned 2 channelers not that long ago, and there's a ton of accepted. Like...a ton that are active and pk
And yes I'm sure you can understand why some of us are defensive. It would be pretty shitty if you took all the time you did to achieve a goal only to get shafted suddenly :p

Re: Why is there such a hate on for rogues?
Let's stop pretending this is about rogues. This is about trolloc rogues and they've had it coming forever. This is a fun but flawed game and the more you stare at the more obvious the flaws are. Just because the game is less populated doesn't mean one its worst ideas should be cranked into overtime.
Also, rogues got upped tremendously a few years ago when hide got changed.

Re: Why is there such a hate on for rogues?
Well of course its mostly rogues "bitching about rules" as you say....this thread is titled why is there such a hate on for rogues, so one would obviously assume its going to be rogues voicing their concerns about how the class has been constantly whittled down over the years. I don't see why it has to be unproductive though. It seems to be quite a civil conversation. Why can't we discuss some of the issues brought up, such as no hides and stuff, and maybe come up with some possible solutions?
Re: Why is there such a hate on for rogues?
What if the solution was to increase no-hides. That is how I would vote. Would you still think the thread was productive? :p
If you do want it productive you will need to bring up specific no-hides and argue on a room by room basis. For example pick a no-hide and argue why it should be changed to hideable and how it would benefit fun pk etc.

Re: Why is there such a hate on for rogues?
This thread is just disappointing. VIA the rogues fading matter, what does it matter if they can't stab once they remort? Get a fuckin grip people.
Re: Why is there such a hate on for rogues?
Lol productive discussions in general forums on wotmud, kidding yourself mate.Loomis wrote:I don't see why it has to be unproductive though. It seems to be quite a civil conversation. Having stab removed from fades makes RP sense but the same sense could be said for accepted in pk fullstop. Since when does anyone give a single dung about RP in this game. Been here for over a decade and i've seen rp rules breached relentlessly. It's nothing more than a targetted attack on players whos playstyle isn't one you enjoy fighting.
I will say that having the time and effort into my character and being completely open with DS hierarchy about my intentions before asking for chosen endorsement it was a dickpunch to be told I can't play how I wish to play my character.
I will also say that I am thankful of Elysia to be given the chance to change my character into a Dreadlord or I would not have bothered continuing to play this game. It has given me another avenue to do things on this game with the effort and time i spent completing remort reqs.
Would go back to being a fade in a heartbeat if I was allowed to play stab among other setups because frankly they're a much more enjoyable class.
