Exactly. Is why I could care less at this point. We were fucked both ways to Sunday either way. Nothing's going to really change. The President is just a pawn for the rich and powerful in America and it's been that way forever.
I'm sorry, but this is patently false. There are clear, major differences between the two, both in policy and in competence. Remember how Trump repeatedly got creamed in the debates and how he said he was going to throw Hillary in jail on live tv? You may also be more concerned if you were in one of the minority groups he attacked. Granted we minorities are kind of used to it, just not by American presidents.

Haha. You've made your bed.

The world is crazy. Brexit. Colombia rejecting a FARC ceasefire. Ireland beating NZ in the rugby. Nostradamus would be having a field day.

At least we're going to enter a golden age of comedy. Comedians already had a grand old time the past 18 months and this will only continue. Remember how Americans used to complain that they were made fun of during W. Bush? With social media and the internet being more commonplace, there will be way more of that. Looking forward to the inevitable laughs.

I remember this one rather vividly: https://www.flickr.com/photos/johnqpublic/93579258

Yeah I can see the parallels

Bush: "They misunderestimated me."

Trump: "Grab em by the p.ussy."

It astounds me how such a puritanical country could elect someone like him.

Sad news, hopefully he'll surround himself with people who do not share many of his beliefs and not implement too many crazy policies. Best of luck to America and the rest of the world.

Shocking, sad, and scary.

I think the Senate and House will keep him in check. But it is more sad that it is a reflection of how many angry poor conservatives are out there who blame immigrants for globalization and do not have the education to distinguish a blowhard idiot with zero substance from a chance for (much needed) change with actual substance behind it.

This will be a turning point in US history regardless of how his presidency turns out. So reminiscent of Rome's story. Highly recommend checking out Death Throes of the Republic for anyone who's interested in how a republic falls and how it parallels our current times.

I listened to some Rome podcasts about 5 years ago or so and was quite simply surprised at how similar the situations were right before the fall of the republic compared to our own times!

All of you that live in other countries run your mouths like you know whats going on in America. I am for one tired of the media telling me because, im a middle class white male that has not been to college, that its my fault that things are bad, or that im racist or that im a redneck. Trump might not be your groomed perfect president, but he gives hope to the little guy.

All of you that live outside the states telling me what i SHOULD do and WHO I SHOULD vote for pisses me off. You have no idea because your not here in it.

Probably not completely unreasonable for the rest of the world to have an interest in what occurs in the world's sole remaining superpower, though, eh?
