limiting council per player

Re: limiting council per player
I got in trouble for suggesting that Tear ally with clans that I have clanned members in. I think it just needs to be clarified once and for all as to how we should approach things. I think having 1 council member per side is how it should be. If it's truely an admin role then anyone ranks 1-5 should be be allowed to manage it realistically if they're deemed trustworthy and active so ther'es no argument for "oh we have not enough players now" no.. you have plenty of clan mates. It only takes 2-3 of you to log on once in a blue moon so pick a clan you're passionate about being the admin role guy and do that, then leave the other clans up to other players.

Re: limiting council per player
Whats the argument for limiting councils again? They don't hold any additional power, so its not like if x player wants to keep y player out, they have to be Council. Or if they want to propose a new policy or a new treaty they have to be Council. I think most human clans work as a majority democracy no? With no one wielding more power than others other than the usual "social power" of their name.

Are you sure they don't hold any additional power? Outwardly it would seem like they don't. In my experience it seems like they do. Some Clans are worse than others.Rark wrote:Whats the argument for limiting councils again? Ah I can only speak to the clans I'm in(too many I'm afraid to admit) but they don't hold any additional power with the exception of some of them regarding certain declan rules, ie a vote can be started with 2 council members starting the vote vs 3 non council players. But other than that in the clans I'm in they just function as the administrators and maybe the middlemen between the people upstairs if the clan has decided on a new retool or a change of clan equipment and so forth.
Can honestly say I've never experienced anyone expecting me to do x because they are Council. If they actually had any real power, then sure limiting them would probably be good, but seems to me limiting Council in an era where our numbers are super low and people might need to step in to fill the shoes of the Council so rankings and w/e can be done doesn't make much sense.

Re: limiting council per player
I've always personally seen council as a public servant, someone who does the admin stuff. In a lot of cases though council are the ones drafting up treaties and contacting other clans etc. They also tend to be the most active clan members and generally the ones pushing for changes. Even though they don't make the final call it would be nice if said players aren't council in clans who are direct opposition.
IE: Mayene/Tear, Illian/Tear, CoL/Tower
Gleeman/Lion Warden would be fine.
