Giving MCs some love
Re: Giving MCs some love
Make the Black Tower Great
Re: Giving MCs some love
yeah. See my solution: where we handicapp them and make them not have clanned weaves after r3 (essentially they're wilders) unless they take one of two paths and get to x amount of alt qps or they get rank 5 in dragonsworn or until someone deems another path is nescessary for diversification and gives them another opportunity to clan somewhere in similiar fashion.
Thoughts on this? Remove taint, but force them into one of two routes and that way they "can" play. Why buy a ferarri if you gonna never drive it past 50 mph lol.

The obvious and much maligned answer would be roleplay, of course. Not everyone wants to squeeze every ounce of power out of their characters to manipulate the game to their best advantage. Some of us just like the RP.micha wrote:Why buy a ferarri if you gonna never drive it past 50 mph lol.
Re: Giving MCs some love
Issue with that is that getting rank 5 isn't really anything difficult, even if you don't PK, with all the new quests and such. I understand it might take a little longer if you are a new player, but even then if you ask around for help in your clan there's probably a couple who can walk you through it all. Don't see your solution to be feasible or to be much of a solution to the consequences of making MCs taint free, don't really think it is needed either. Dragonsworn openly accepts MCs, so there is a clan already that you can clan into and progress in, managing taint will be up to you, as Craven mentioned there's somewhat documented ways of playing an MC and minimize taint so it won't be an issue.
DFs already get taint protection when they reach a certain amount of qps - which I believe has been downed a fair bit in this current system.

It seems to me that you are both arguing they should have no taint, which essentially makes them Male AS, but then say it wouldn't be a good thing to have Male AS running around. The mud has been somewhat decent, at least in recent years, at limiting the amount of channelers with clanned weaves up north, Shawling being a somewhat lenghty road, Accepteds being malused by having to wear ring/dress dumping their total defense down to a manageable level, Kin/wisdom in theory being limited by their RP. Adding no-taint MCs to the bunch is probably not wise.A solution:
I do think Dragonsworn should have the no-taint flag added after r5, but only because their behaviors are policed by the clan i.e. they can't attack innocents, etc. I don't think it'd be great to have a bunch of essentially Male Aes Sedai running amok pking ds because quite frankly it's going to tip the scale some and make it fairly uneven.
Re: Giving MCs some love
7 years of taint in this game taught me one thing.
Look horse- -- -you pet a horse..<<<
or
balefire leaps from your hands and kills a crier..
Yeah there is no fun in that.
As for the black tower. I doubt we are that far along on the road to rjs world that we can start implementing it . Also what most of you say is truth. Going the good guy route is super boring/ going df route then shelving it as craven says is all fun and games. Then bham. Boring.
The ferari anology works well. There is tricks to not taint, but it became boring and hectic to constantly look over your shoulder if you do something with the one power.
If there was a way to implement black tower as a clan like our other secret clans, give r5 the untaint abillity , and so forth. Then yes, i am very sure a few will go that route. But right now. Making a mc is not worth time/effort/rp put into it.

Ahh but just getting rank 5 to get clanned weaves or even limited clan weaves (i.e. damane) is not the point. The point is that the character is governed by two paths. They either pursue no taint through Dsworn or DF system. The third option is they can taint as is unclanned until they get to a certain point in clanning/df system i.e. rank 3 which gives taint immunity.
The good: If they don't want to taint, and they want to get over rank 3 weaves, they have to clan or go DF. If they clan, they are goverened very strictly as Dragonsworn doesn't let people random attack inno's etc. DF they have to stay hidden so they're pretty restricted as well.
The bad: I can't come up with bad this is a solid solution

DF can channel as they please, with rank 3 weaves up until a certain alt qp limit is met. Then they can unlock rank 3+ weaves through the df system.
unclanned unaffiliated mcs have up to rank 3 weaves. and are subject to taint.
Re: Giving MCs some love
i would say complete protection from taint be a df only thing however there could be a fun way to lessen your current amount... like kill a dl or fade and turn it in to taim or something
Re: Giving MCs some love
but why pe, what are you most concerned about if we lift taint from clanned/df once they reach a certain rank/alt qps level?
unclanned would have normal taint and exist as they currently do.

Re: Giving MCs some love
mainly rp. in the books the evil mcs and there were some were protected until a certain event then it wasnt an issue... and our timeline doesnt have that event
also umclanned are who I am trying to give a leg up to

Re: Giving MCs some love
why would you want to do that? That's the source of the inbalance i.e. non tainted, unclanned, can do whatever they want charachters, with full clan weaves.
i suggested clan/df route to subdue people getting stupid with it and just going on sprees and imbalance to northern pk i.e. 4 mcs show up in northern pk suddenly. no ranking required, no taint, etc.
