Can we as players generally make clanning easier?

The mighty Zarth agrees that clanning and declanning should be easier. I tried to make it easy to get into Ghar, it got us Equitant and Byrg but I think it worked out ok.

If you had posted cons only, I would have left it.
I don't recall posting anything unrelated or that was not a real example of how this can go terribly wrong.

Sure, I named players and a certain staff member of abusing their power but only in relation to this specific topic of making clanning easier. My comments were also factual and not speculative with examples.

All I was getting at is its probably fine for an inactive clan because the few active players do all the vetting, which is typically the case anyway with voting on applicants etc.

In the defenders it got out of hand once the clan became more active. People couldn't stop the clanning/ranking and many were concerned by the lack of control.

Changing the clanning process got sidelined because certain power hungry players wanted to clan a bunch of randoms, not even post threads for them on forums and use them to declan me. A certain player even canvassed the clan to try declan me prior and had no support which led them to then do this to make it happen.

Obviously a bunch were his buddies/haters but also a bunch were randoms that didn't understand what was happening and somehow still had a default vote due to the declanning rules.

People who I should have been voting on whether I even wanted them in my clan got to vote on kicking me out basically and some of them didn't even have a clanning thread.

Which then gets back to individuals/oldbies who are bitter people that can't RP and just enjoy screwing people that get in the way of their OOC agendas that are short sighted and have no RP context/basis.

To be honest I think clanning shouldn't be some horrendous gauntlet for anyone. I've always been fair and reasonable with people I oocly dislike despite their lack of it in return. I don't know that I've even ever no voted anyone.

I also don't believe declanning someone should be easy. It should be an absolute last resort, particularly as that player has invested significant time into obtaining their rank etc.

My final comment was that maybe I am just the bad apple.

OOC-ly, fwiw, I quite enjoyed the events and drama surrounding Yasmin and the Defenders. I don't think I've had any negative ooc interactions with Yasmin. In general I do my best to ignore knowledge of alts and treat each character individually - it's more fun for me that way too, anyway.

Tairien politics are a mire. :D

Well to be fair, it was posted in the CoL vs Tear war results that you intentionally betrayed your own clan. So I wouldn't have thought it'd be a huge stretch that those clan mates would decide you're no longer welcome

Regarding clanning in general, I agree most justice clans should have a simple process, and I'm with the OP that trying to interact with inactive players across different time zones is frustrating - my ideas around this have all been suggested earlier though!

So, having been around the block a time or two and having my fair share of experiences with automated clanning from Dragonsworn to the former secret fc clan etc, I think it's good and bad.

The good part is that it creates a direct pipeline for players to funnel into and pursue character progression, which is really the bread and butter to successful games.

I would encourage all justice clans to do this sort of thing. I have recently requested that we as Defenders motion to automate our clanning quests because I want players to be able to access clans and progress their characters without relying on other people to such great extents but, still able to progress their character. I really enjoy the accomplishment of getting clanned. At one time I had a ton of clanned chars throughout a majority of justice clans. It was a lot of fun! I enjoyed participating in everything and for newer players, we really want to give them that sense of belonging and feeling "cool" about what they're doing with their character. I think automated clanning quests for up to rank 2 is fair. Make clan cloaks issuable at rank 3 and create a process.

I'm more concerned about what happens at rank 2-3 though, because essentially the same people will be making the call and all we did is move the process up some. If we're worried about char progression and getting people started, I think automation is good. If we're worried about ventilating and getting around the old boys club, I don't know if I have a good solution for this. It is 100% real but, from what I can gather it has improved and is much easier than it used to be to get clanned than it used to be. So there's some hope.

You could use with some improvement of decision making perhaps, but I wouldn't go as far as saying you're awful. Just create another alt and come back, try not to break anything, and just ask yourself if what you're doing is going to cause strife to a majority of us and then maybe don't do it if the answer is yes ;)
