Honest opinion please...
WotMUD,
Context:
Most times in the past where I’ve taken a break from this game, it’s been because of a catastrophic event like losing a rare/unique to lag/gank, frustration from game mechanics, frustration by management of game, toxic players like Pial or just the fact that real life got out of balance (busy) and the game doesn’t fit.
I noticed that numbers are still down. I’ve tried to log in a few times and just have lost the desire to play. I check the forums from time to time and realized that even the conversation has been pigeonholed into a trump only discussion.
Questions:
What keeps you logging in, those that still play?
Does anyone else feel this way?
I like daily goals on certain Xbox games. I like games I can play with family and friends. I’m finding less time/desire for wotmud.

Re: Honest opinion please...
My opinion is if the game only makes you frustrated when you play, you shouldn't play. I always try to find some way to have fun when I log in. If there is no pk or smobbing going on, I try to amuse myself over narrates. If there is no one to talk to, then I just guard the well/courtyard and tab out to amuse myself some other way.
It may be easier for me because:
1. I only started playing a couple years ago. I wasn't here for the glory days of over 100 people being logged on, so the lower population doesn't depress me as much.
2. I only play abs characters so I don't care when I lose my eq.
3. I don't care how others treat me or play the game because it's just text and at the end of the day, I just don't give a dung
Hope you stick around, but if you are only getting bad energy from the game, find something else that makes you happy!

It's okay to change as a person.

But you're perfect just the way you are!Itesh wrote:It's okay to change as a person.
Re: Honest opinion please...
Lately only a few things really keep me around. Helping newbies, or PK on DS, or old friends. Having a "duty" can be a motivation.
Re: Honest opinion please...
I still play for the pk honestly. It's always been about the PK for me. There's times i'll log on and there's tons of LS on but no one is pking because there is no DS. I was here in the "glory days" of 100 LS being on and 20-30 DS. The double group pk fights and real city raiding. When humans would actually fight and not just try to run around and flee stab or door or setup ganks. But Darkside does the same thing depending on who is on and being the "leader" at that time. Having good friends to chat with helps also. I know some people like Razhak think that returning gear and being able to talk cross race is a bad thing with the Discord app. But it keeps things moving. I would rather spend 20-30 minutes fighting ppl and joking around with friends then spending that time trying to get a set together again.
I've taken many breaks myself. Sometimes you just need it. You just have to find what makes it fun for you and do it. Try not to care as much about the gear and just yolo it. You just got into lancers recently. Chest is usually full of abs and if not its easy to get now with the fd smob. Just go out and roll the dice and see how long til you die. One of the biggest problems, in MY opinion, is the lack of risks and the worry over losing that gear. I'm not on much during the week cause of work but we get along pretty well. Shoot me a tell if i'm on and I promise i'll make it interesting lol

Re: Honest opinion please...
pk. Play dside a bit, it's more casual and fun in my opinion. LS is a drag more often than not, the attitudes and inability to make rational decisions as a group wares on everyone after a while haha! Play battlefield 1! just mix it up some. I feel you, been where you been, and I just kinda do my own thing now a days. this is end game status for me. I doubt i'll ever make it into any secret clans or make a fade or anything, so I just try and enjoy myself, solo smob some so I can give gear to others when they need it, and help lower level players
What do you like to do?

Re: Honest opinion please...
Friends keep me here for the most part, logging on to pk or just chat with people is a big part of it.
Try finding something new to do ingame as well, make a new character and play and get in a clan that forces you to get out of your comfort zone ans try new things (like tower or CoL).

Re: Honest opinion please...
I'm on the same boat as joolis only I don't play abs because I'm a sucker. Also, weird as it is, my internet friends are pretty cool. Getting on to chat and mess around is always pretty fun.
Re: Honest opinion please...
I realised why I still come back recently. In the past ten years (I started playing in about 2009), I have lived in over something like 11 different houses and 8 different cities. In the real world, home is where my suitcase and my phone and my laptop is parked. Houses I have important memories in no longer exist.
But when I log on mud and go 2n Malk I remember the time I died there as a newbie with justice (I have no idea why LS let me use it when I barely knew what it was) while Farwil tried to help me get in (and almost pulled it off) because he was encouraging a new player pk with something cool, or every time I go south to Caemlyn, and pass that area, I remember how the first time I led a smob group i walked everybody into a DT near SK, or when I go TV kitchen how my first Novice was so outraged that we don't get wages for washing dishes and we decided to stage a labour rights protest and an imm dropped dougan on us and there was chaos, or how every time I see a deer I remember finally persuading my irl bff (still best friend
) to play this game and she was horrified and refused to play after realising you had to kill something as cute as that!
Of course there are other reasons (like pk being fun) and there are lots of reasons I don't like the game (number one being trash talk which I have no stomach for) but this was an important one I didn't realise until recently. It's reassuring that the rooms are still just how they were ten years ago (for my side of wotmud).
