I was also curious how Irma compares to some of the biggest cyclones, and stumbled on the rather stupefying fact that the largest ever 'measured' cyclone was, at its peak, half the total size of the contiguous United States! I'm hearing that North Carolina has declared a state of emergency now. Take care everyone in the south east.

Latest projections have it hitting Florida and then bouncing up into the Carolina's without losing much force.

Damn, I have five family living near the beach. I really will worry if it strikes the border of VA as well. They live near the border of VA.
