Anyone ever do the November novel writing challenge?

I started doing it this month with some friends and it's been an eye-opener. Wondering if anyone here did the 1-month writing challenge and what your thoughts/experiences were. Did you end up reworking/publishing that first draft? Was it helpful? Or do you feel it just makes you good at writing bad stuff quickly?
