I thought clan trinket cost was dropped because they removed the bonuses from clan trinkets, not because scalp rewards were lowered. At first glance, it seems like raising clan trinket cost by 2 would match the scalp rewards increase, because r1 trinket = 1 bit, r5 trinket=1 scalp. However, the majority of pk scalps are heads, so really, the cost changes to the following.
1/3/5 Rewards - 1/3 Trinket Cost:
1 Head=5 r1 trinkets
1 Head= 1.67 r5 trinkets
to
3/5/7 Rewards - 3/5 Trinket Cost:
1 Head= 2.33 r1 Trinkets
1 Head= 1.4 r5 Trinkets
Negligible increase on the r5 trinket, but quite a big jump on the cost for r1 trinkets. And that's all assuming you always use the new scalp turn in mobs every time.
I never issued while mastering any character, but since coming back, I have actively been issuing my r1 trinket on non-masters. Going back to not issuing doesn't bother me, and I'll gladly take the trinket increase for the scalp increase. However, from the Tales post, it sounded like adjusting every clan's trinket cost would be a heavily time intensive endeavor. But it doesn't seem necessary.
