Side by side number breakdown

Post by Rayek » Mon Oct 31, 2016 7:32 am

Is there a reason this isn't something? I mean it's kind of absurd that you have to guess what side to log into. I and a lot like me don't like to log into a side with no chance of pk. If I see there's 10 on and log on ls and there's 10 on. It's so incredibly frustrating. I want to log onto the side with the least amount so I can for sure get pk. Why is this a thing that's frowned down on upstairs? It's baffling honestly. In a day and age when time is oh so precious and important. We can't do something like this to make things more time responsible. This wastes 15 minutes of mine or anyone's time that is looking. Time is one of the biggest downfalls of this game. I feel like this would greatly improve the time element. I know there's some players that like to get kills by overpowering. Lots of us don't, lots of us enjoy the challenge. Let's make this happen already!

With the lower numbers we have it's all the more annoying now days as well to not be able to tell.

It's not a thing that's frowned upon upstairs. Both are coding items. The same goes for ta'veren list ingame and a heap of other things that have been requested lately. Coding is still scarce and mostly limited to fixing crash bugs or abusable things. I can't make this sound any better than it is, sorry.

Thanks for the swift reply.

Ok to the technical minded people -

Is there some sort of way we can set up a trigger on Zmud and Cmud that will instantly update some central database/web count/page we can access So for example if a person types WHODARKSIDE it sets my update to DARKSIDE, then whenever I type in WHO it automatically updates a list with a timestamp? The list just keeps updated at the most recent timestamp.

The list should not give specific names, simply the aggregate number of people.

Another case where "this is coding" could be negated if imms *were* allowed to multiplay and hence use/create "imm bots". In this case, there would an "imm bot" on each side, where one of its tasks would be taking a snapshot of the who list every 5min, saving it somewhere, and then pushing it so it can be viewed online. No source base coding required.

Edit: Just read Manglers response. Yeah, good idea.

Hang on, you mean Immortals cannot multi-play - I know that mortals will get severely punished *whisper:* balefire(?) if they do it but I thought that our great leaders were not so constrained! :o

Number of players per side won't necessarily tell you, especially for LS, how many people are PKers. E.g., LS tends to have more statters, RPers, smobbers, explorers, etc., than DS.

Why not just ask friends on Skype or IRC if they are pking and what side needs more numbers?
