Rank 8 no take weapons and gear

Why not just up the cost until it is viable as a real item?

Loot feels like a key part of wotmud and now the most experienced characters don't even load weapons?

Issue the rares at 50 - 100 QP per would be more in line with the game values, better yet put a mob at the rank 8 rooms that loads a few on reboot at various costs - 200 qp for a non craftable rare that might load 3 times a year (1%) isn't going to break the game and gives something to log on and check.

Again giving top pkers the top weapons that no one else gets to loot / use feels strange given wotmuds playstyle and values.

100% Agree.

It really doesn't make sense that you get to use this excellent gear against everyone but then if you die - they don't get the main item.

Or just change it to 2 body pieces or maybe 1 body piece and 1 trinket that is marginally better or maybe an issuable silver medallion-like item that is uniform across all Rank 8s to show that they earned.

For example

Worn on neck a necklace with written text 'I'm a loser and got 3k qps on this 1 char instead of 3 chars and made sure 2 other players didn't become masters and I probably followed Kryyg for most of the qps anyways'

Yes because it would be nice to get back weapon when your team wins

But my issue is that there is No distinction made between abs and everything else for qps. Sorry but death rate is dramatically different.

I'm not talking about how good they are or the balance or anything. Abs weapons are great. Abs is great.

Generally agree, it sucks to kill someone and not be able to loot the thing they were trying to kill you with.

Another thought: tokens are underutilized in any avenue that's not some sort of permanent advancement hack, so how about we just do away with issuing rank 8 weapons/armor in general and let the 'masters' of this game get by on making stuff to wield via crafting tokens they accrue? If you must, let them craft some more items or something. Rank 8 bonuses are great before you even get to weapons and armor, it doesn't need a replacement, whatever the "upped" cost. We also don't actually need "QP sinks" for Rank 8s - or rank 6+ remorts or whatever - it should be the game's nice way of telling you to firetruck off and make another alt or something.

Probably too much coding, but it'd be nice to be able to just retool whatever weapon you're using and let it last over rents and stuff.

Think the simplest thing would be to have a r8 only accessible mob. That would make takeable craftables for -1 token cost and no other ingredients. Solves a few issues. You can loot them when they die. They still have a cost to them. You don’t have to take scalps as much (not that it’s hard to keep a surplus) But honestly shouldn’t be needing to keep getting qps. And for us lazy people who have never crafted anything, because it’s tedious. But have an overwhelming amount of tokens, a token sink. Could even still have a 5qp or so issue cost.

I know that some players like to move on but for many it's the reason the play. Ive said this before but what Rank 8 bonuses should really be about is - cutting out the tedious things, not making game breaking balance.

The assumption is that we've already done a ton of the basic things that are boring. So we can "earn" some lazy play in a way that Doesn't affect other players.

PK bonuses let us be lazy but affect other players, which sucks.

But what if I could zoom around cities with no quit and check all my rents in 20 seconds

What if I could be on perma 2-3xp

What if I didn't have to h/h my weapons (this is a pk thing but everyone can h/h..it just means I can skip the cash grind)

What if I could issue a basic set of abs/combo/dodge for 1-6 qp (depending on the type)

And having bonuses tailored to your clan or role. I outlined stuff that would let a pk clan rank 8 person basically hop into pk easily.

For an RP clan person, it could be rentable retools, special emotes on horses and at gates(this is all already there for roleplay ranks), but even stuff like they can trigger room emotes that continue (like make it rain..idk) basically be more like scene directors.

For a smobber type clan it could be - send gear back to clan base (like the wagon). Again this doesn't affect PK because people aren't killing smobbers for the 100+ regular items but for their scalp.

(Note: zone sense is a powerful bonus but I realy wanted it just to Know if pk was there. It would be cool to even replace it with a pk zone alert ..so that Just in blight zones you know if there's players around within even 3-4 zones. That way it's not cheat coding the chase, but it's letting you check activity and saves you time)

I think at some point, whether you want to continue playing an end-game character starts being your own prerogative vs. the game's job to continue incentivize something that just contributes to a detrimental creep. !TAKE rares are the blatant, in-your-face example of this detrimental creep, but there's more subtle examples of it that are besides the point of this post.

Just as a reminder, the non-weapon/armor issue Rank 8 bonuses for most include:

- +1 to stat, +10 hps, +10 sps, +10 mvs, and/or no eating/drinking
- Free prac resets at master blacksmiths
- Free honing at master blacksmith
- Lugard manor/manor coach (LS/SS)
- Rank 8 rooms
- Rank 8 mob

These are on top of existing master bonuses.

Plus, a lot of the QOL updates and new features (LMH, insanely fast coaches, scouts/flocks narrating, as well as the scouts you bop to let the other side know you're looking for PK) are things that work towards addressing stuff that you're describing for everyone (you don't need to be rank 8 to have already done a ton of the basic things that are boring), not just rank 8s.
