I actually really enjoy Sailor Moon, even if people say it's for little kids. After reading the manga, there are actually deeper themes that speak to the nature of humans and the possibility of an innate desire within each of us to connect with one another. I also really enjoyed Sailor Moon Crystal's reboot of the original 1990's anime version since it reintroduced the more mature themes that I spoke of and portrayed Sailor Moon the way the manga artist (Naoko Takeuchi) always imagined her to be: a young girl who, while fighting against the forces of darkness that threaten to destroy the world, still manages to find love, friendship, and discover the strength of the bonds she possesses with those around her. In the reboot, you got to see her mature from an incessant crybaby who isn't capable of doing anything to (by the
Stars arc) a beautifully elegant woman who is able to carry the weight of the universe with the strength she gains from her friends and lover, finally attaining the responsibility and inner strength to become a graceful ruler of the new Silver Millennium.
Sorry, I know that no one will probably care about this little shpeel, but Sailor Moon's love for those around her, including her enemies, and the belief that you can gain infinite strength to fight on in life from your friends and loved ones have carried me through some dark times. It's been an immensely positive influence in my life, and if it's any of your cups of tea, it might do the same for you.
