Dark Souls 3 is life sometimes.
Re: New/Old Games you enjoy?
Regarding Ingress... seriously THANK YOU! I have a 17 year old son who is on the autism spectrum and I am on a somewhat limited budget. He is high functioning, but right now prefers to spend his days in front of his laptop and school just let out. This is perfect to get him out and about and see the neighborhood.
Re: New/Old Games you enjoy?
You are VERY welcome. One of the things to note about Ingress is that the portals are all supposed to be public accessible via walking; a historic site, a popular gathering spot, or a piece of artwork; never on a K-12 school ground. There are portals out there that violate these rules, and are slowly being removed, so try not to get frustrated if there's one you can't get to or seems to be inappropriate. If the portal has been created correctly, when you click on the picture of the portal it should tell you a little something about the location such as "originally built in 1885" or "President Lincoln stayed in this hotel" or "Mural by 3rd grade students in 1988" or whatever, so you might find a lot of cool, interesting, or historic things that you didn't know about or notice as you move along.kyla wrote:Regarding Ingress... seriously THANK YOU! Yes, there is competition. Yes, there is trash talk on comm channels. Yes, it is for the most part friendly and fun. It's a game, there are always trolls, sadly.
One of the best things about it for me is that anyone can play it, and it encourages movement. It also employs critical thinking and strategy as you get deeper into the game. There are quite a few tutorials out there on the internet, but if you have any specific questions about the game, let me know. There are also quite a few wotmud players who play the game as well. Most of them are on the right team... RESISTANCE.

Re: New/Old Games you enjoy?
We started with the Ingress app and there are two "friendly portals" right near by... and yes, we are the Resistance. Found the website that shows portals worldwide. Atlanta appears to be an amazingly target rich environment, especially the northern Atlanta area. Looks like we're going to a few historical sites (parks, cemeteries, etc) that would have normally been boring to him before but are "missions" now.

Re: New/Old Games you enjoy?
Outstanding.
I hope you enjoy the game! As you get further into the "lore" you might see even more depths to it. Remember - Hack. Deploy. Field. If it's white, capture it. If it's green, work up to about level 5 and then start smashing it.
Have a great time!

One thing that doesn't seem to mentioned anywhere- Glyph Hacking. Keep your finger on the hack button to bring up a mini-game where you have to copy a sequence of glyphs (depending on lvl of player and portal) which gives you more gear.
And if you're android and refuse to spend real money on in-game items, get google survey app, you get little credit rewards for tiny surveys (for example, i did one today that was 2 questions for 19p) and use them to buy Key Lockers (very useful) or Frackers which increase hack rewards

Don't have a ton of time to game due to other hobbies, but I do like to hop on Rocket League a few times a week. Also (slowly) working through the latest Uncharted. Other games I've enjoyed in the last few years: GTA, Battlefield, Dying Light, Gran Turismo.
I don't play MMOs because they are too addictive
