Basin for light side?
Re: Basin for light side?
Do remorts need to be pracced in gleamers to poison? The argument that it's a mediocre weapon is no good if people can just swirl by wielding it and then return to primary weapon. Pretty sure I have seen a lot of players do this over the years.
As ominas says we often do prepare ..I remember quaffing 3 cure fears and still being feared. Similarly have run through three cure syrups or handed them around and it's only effective in very short pk.
I think if the poison lasted one tic or only went off on one person. It's a nice small advantage which people can prepare for.

Re: Basin for light side?
The worst is when you are prepped, get feared, quaff a red and instantly get feared again. You're unable to quaff another red until the prior one wears off. It removes fear but does nothing to prevent re-fear.
I'm sure that's a bug but still another status annoyance
Re: Basin for light side?
The weapon was changed so you needed to be practiced in the sword class for the poison swirl to go off. Similar to short blades when you did not have to practice them to stab. It was changed that you needed to practice the weapon to stab with it. Lances are one of the only ones you do not have to practice to charge with. So that is your warrior and LS perkisabel wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 11:26 amDo remorts need to be pracced in gleamers to poison? Re: Basin for light side?
Let me prelude this by saying this is not an attack on anyone’s views above. More a simple way of looking at things through my eyes.
The whole spiel on gleamers is pathetic. If you think gleamers are a huge problem I also think your views are sad and misguided. And you don’t take a moment to realize how silly they are.
My DS hunters have generally mained gleamers for long periods. I say this from Stompers, and previously a deleted Fenrirs view. I’ve played nearly everything and every setup the game offers. Barring anything super bonused, with the lone exception being a gaidin master who’s deleted. And I just laugh when I hear this brought up. Gleamers are decent, there best part is there poison. They cant bash for dung, there damage and ob is just meh in my mind. There defense is fairly nice, one reason I like them. But otherwise I just laugh really when facing one. They are basically a rare, which takes a good amount of time and investment to make.
Nowadays my argument is a little less valid. Simply for the fact that ways are very commonly used. And the majority of players are very flighty and don’t pk unless they know they can win, and win easy. Anything that’s a gift wrapped easy mode is the theme here at Wotmud high.
But be all that as it may let’s get to the reasoning here. Gleamers aren’t gods gift to pk. They are slightly annoying, yes. But also easily managed and maintained. Will you have to adapt when a gleamer is in play? Duh. Is it this amazing weapon and boon everyone thinks it is? Fk no lol.
Silly silly people that can’t put these things together baffle me. A gleamer is not that scary and not that great. I welcome the chance to test myself against them honestly. It’s a different form of pk, you will have to adapt just like you would with anything else. It’s so silly to be so adamantly against it and poison. It’s only annoying, can it lead to your death? Absolutely any misstep and stupid decision in pk can.
The same ol same ol is dull and boring for a player like me. So when I see a gleamer while I might very fine person, gender being but a construct of society and say it’s annoying. I don’t generally go inside and quit the pk because of it. If anything it makes me want to kill you more. There’s a vast difference in players in this game. Most are just whiners who will tuck tail and well guard. Piss and moan about how this persons hard to kill or he’s poisoning me wahhh.
Or you can just whine a little, man or woman up and kill them
Ya that will be my choice. I pk because I like it, I like the challenge. What I see from a lot of you via sarryn or any alt is just the opposite. Which is why players like jestin and mikhan and lancelot and mostly isabel
Are in my mind 50x better then players like say a loomis who will see me spit at me and go guard a well. Or Stomp who’s so bitter and jaded he’d do the same or smob. Or even the best pkers on the game do a fashion of the above.
Gleamers are meh is the short story well not short lol. There powerful only in the sense of poison. The rest is absolutely laugh you off the stage worthy. Bad bash, not a great melee weapon barring poison/defense. They cost I don’t even know how much to make now. Because I gave up on them when they were whined into being a token rare. You lose it, it’s not like oh hey easy to replace. They have a counter in poison cups. There a piece of hot garbage. I would just say garbage but the poison part makes it a valid statement.
And lastly to get to why I think gleamers are valid and not at all skewed or unbalanced. Obviously I’ve already given reasons above. But yeah, so your a troll. And if your old school like me. You don’t know the ways at all, and honestly don’t care to learn them. Because I think there the biggest handheld joke on the game. Mainly because there generally used by wimps who run away quickly. And I like my challenges.
Ugh so many things, I have to break it into long unorganized fractured paragraphs to get to it all lol. There basically just meh, besides poison. As a person who mained gleamers on his masters for years. There just meh. To me there a counter to things like but not limited to. Wolfbrothers, black talons on foot in the blight, as/war regain, channelers in general. LS’s move advantage over DS, stabbers in general. Great players, and other reasons I’m forgetting I’m sure.
When I use them I like to practice another weapon, because they suck. Or I’ll even carry around 3 weapons. Example my general setup is short blades or fencings attack and med blades. I’ll often carry around a silver plated for the bash/all around goodness. A dagger of whatever fashion for when others badh someone because I’ll miss usually, and absers. And then the gleamer, which basically I use as a third option on the list. I use it for defense and poison only. Often times I wont even use it if the situation doesn’t require it. Generally I use it to even the field against bonuses or annoying hard to kill peeps. And then there’s the pracs required as a troll lol.
Example fighting Weir, not sure if I was a master at the time. I didn’t use it once the whole fight. Why? Because Weir is fking fun to fight especially in a 1 on 1 on any alt. Granted he’s quite bonused on them so that is a readon to use it. But it’s not needed, because I know what I will get fighting him. Generally a great fight and a challenge. I died in this instance and killed him in others. Such is pk, I lost a craftable rare I never even used lol. Didn’t bother me one bit. Because it was fun as fk.
Anyways rant over. Gleamers aren’t the bees knees. If you think they are play one, and play it well and live long with it. Because unless your like a pk god (not me) you will lose it to a non master with abs and a mallet. And then oh noes your precious is gone. Adapt and pk stop whining and hiding at a well or whatever when you see it or anything else in pk.

Re: Basin for light side?
Think you missed what was said Sarryn. No one considers gleamers the bees knees or ultra powerful. They are irritating and bad for pk. It’s a gimmicky weapon that gets in the way. Which is why I grouped them with a specific type of player who only stabs, or who weaves bs weaves instantly.
Rig was getting status weaved to firetruck in blight recently. Over and over. Not a big deal. Except it was because Rig was leading ds. Without him there ds backed off and wouldn’t fight. Which is fair enough. That’s one of the reasons I have issues with that stuff. And an example for you.
We had pretty solid numbers blight to fight in that pk I mentioned with Daemon. We wanted to fight. But we couldn’t regen to move off mobs and pk fizzled. We were basically soft blocked from getting anything done and progressing the pk. So it ended. To me that’s an issue.
All because of one silly little weapon.

I popped three cups over the course of that session and was still probably poisoned for a combined 20+ ticks. It was pretty silly, but boredom and persistence was the combination. Great that you have to practice med blades, but the issue is that you can swirl endlessly without a timer on anyone with any defense and it's not possible to interrupt. Having to practice your weapon is not really any kind of offset for that.Ominas wrote: ↑Fri Sep 11, 2020 9:54 amI’m with you. We had a pk session with Bryan the other day. Was around 4 to 6 of us vs 6 to 8 ds. Everyone was kind of tagging in and out. Bryan is using gleamers. Or was I don’t know. I had cups, I want to say Daemon has cups. Every single player on ls over the course of an hour or so of pk was poisoned over and over again. Non stop. And Bryan is obviously doing more damage than your example. But that’s a rare case I’ll admit.

Up the status buff on the cup to 5-10 ticks of being unpoisonable, and make humans have to prac lances to charge with one!
EVERYBODY WINZ

And fix cure fear potion!

Re: Basin for light side?
Yeah they should be fixing a lot of things, before adding all this new stuff. View TA, rerolls, certain potions, the list goes on.
