Sheathing his weapon as he walked into the Tremalking Splice, Zanadu found an empty table in the corner and collapsed in exhaustion into a chair. He looked around at the bustling tavern, filled with all sorts of people. Some he recognized, Brocas the Warder was there for a quick ale before his Aes Sedai Etain would make him sit through meetings again. MCkale was visiting from the west again, and by the look of him he had been there downing ale after ale for hours. Zanadu could not partake in an ale however, because he had been hard at work all day, and that was not ending anytime soon. The Shining Walls had been attacked more and more frequently. Many bridgeguards had died in the past few months, and thieves were inside the city as well. Murderers and thieves roamed the lands of Tar Valon and surrounding areas with almost no threat of justice. ‘This has to end’, thought Zanadu. We need help! There are so few of us remaining, we need to recruit some more people to join the Valon Guard! With a sigh he pulled a paper out of his pouch, got up from his table and up to the board near the bar, where he secured the notice. It read:
“ For all able bodied men and women of the Light, if you wish to join the Valon Guard, and protect the Shining Walls of Tar Valon, meet with Zanadu, or send him a message!”
