Wisdom's Boon

Post by Kieron » Wed Apr 17, 2024 7:59 pm

Being freshly spun into the weave and therefore unfamiliar with the lands and peoples of this Age, Kieron had stumbled into a deadly trap in southwestern Andor. His body lay broken at the bottom of a wooded ravine; his only belongings had been carried off by the adjacent river. Kieron's spirit was as defeated as his body, and he considered ending it all.

But a ray of light pierced this darkness: Elara, an apprentice Wisdom who chanced to be gathering herbs nearby, rescued Kieron and nursed him back to health. Elara splinted Kieron's broken bones, poulticed and sewed his many wounds. Having healed his body at a nearly-miraculous rate, Elara turned her attention to Kieron's spirit. She outfitted him with some of her own possessions, but to her eyes, it seemed as yet unsafe and unwise for Kieron to return to adventuring without additional preparations. So Elara organized other notable figures from nearby towns (Olyvander, Klawike, Vala, Amarea), and they also contributed both equipment and encouragement to Kieron.

At this point, Kieron felt ready in both body and soul to set out once more on his solo adventures of this beautiful yet cruel world, this world which is borne of the Creator yet touched by the Dark One. But Elara refused to consider her duty to Kieron complete until he had been safely escorted back to Caemlyn, and after much debate, they set off as a party. Although Kieron initially viewed Elara's insistence on accompanying him as both endearing and exasperating, he soon realized the wisdom in her decision: Caemlyn was currently being terrorized by the Dark One's assassins! Mere seconds after the party's arrival within the forests on the outskirts of Caemlyn, Kieron took a basilard in the back from a particularly ugly and foul-smelling Trolloc, and it was only through the heroics of Elara and Olyvander that he managed to survive.

Kieron let Elara patiently tend to his wounds once more, and then he exited Caemlyn's southern gate as fast as his feet could carry him. Whatever adventures lay ahead, Kieron knew that—at least in the short term—he would prefer those adventures be in the south, where most people remain blissfully ignorant that Trollocs are anything more than a story told to frighten children. For now, until he could grow stronger, he would need to leave the fates of those unlucky northern souls in the hands of their capable Wisdom.
