Caravan Smobbin' (New Smob Style Coming)
Posted: Tue Jun 23, 2026 10:21 pm
Let me start by saying this clearly: This is not coming today or even necessarily soon.
This is a placeholder and an update to the player base on what is being worked on next. This is being created to tie into the current event that I just announced, meaning it will not be released until sometime afterward. Realistically, we are probably at least a month away from that event being finished. Possibly more.
Caravan Smobbing will introduce a new style of smobbing that involves players hiring themselves out to protect a caravan. There will be a minimum and maximum number of players allowed on these runs, so choose your team wisely.
Your job will be to protect the caravan as it travels, as well as when it stops for any reason. The caravan will follow a day and night cycle, stopping during the night to establish camp.
During these travels and rests, there will be interactions along the way. You may be asked to fetch water for the horses, assist with supplies, or deal with unexpected situations. The goal here is to create a more organic roleplay experience. Something that exists within the world, happens naturally, and gives players opportunities to interact beyond the standard.
This system is intended to work alongside the new roleplay system.
As you travel the caravan routes, you will encounter attacks from smobs. As you progress, these encounters will become more challenging and introduce different obstacles to overcome.
At the end of each route, you will have the option to speak with the caravan leader and potentially invest in his next delivery. He will request a specific amount of gold from the group. If you choose to continue, the difficulty and rewards will increase.
At this time, three full routes are being planned. If you make it all the way to the end, the current idea is for players to have a chance at TAR level loot.
We hope to eventually add more routes and continue expanding this system. Once we have a solid proof of concept, I also want to create something similar for Darkside. The idea there would be sending them south into more hostile territory and, hopefully, creating more opportunities for PK.
More details will come as we continue developing and testing this. The later routes will not be released until the first route has been tested with players and we have had time to work through any issues.
Be patient and stay tuned. All information in this post is subject to change. Elysia and I will get it done as soon as we can.
A quick shoutout to the player of Trynhvar, who actually inspired me to develop this.
He asked me about escort quests, which I immediately told him were terrible. Having done some myself, I stand by that opinion. However, he mentioned asking for a caravan for his master quest once, and my mind started spinning.
Sometimes the best ideas come from the strangest people.
Go out, spread the word, jump on, and most importantly, have fun.
