As of the next reboot:

• Cancelling or being interrupted mid-mend will properly cancel the mend (you won’t run around looking like you’re still mending until you rent)
• Item max durability degradation gets applied when the mend is interrupted

This means you’ll no longer need to worry about mends being interrupted - you can just continue playing as normal.
