Temporary changes of November: none.

Post by Voices of the Wheel » Mon Oct 31, 2016 5:36 pm

Slightly earlier than usual, October's temporary changes will be removed a few hours short of November. They will not be replaced with a new set in November. The unusual change for this month is: there will be nothing unusual.

Temporary Changes 2.0

Post by Voices of the Wheel » Mon Feb 27, 2017 9:16 am

All,

Since with the new immortal rules it's a bit of a heavy workload to do temporary changes every single month, we've adapted the concept. There will be temporary changes, however, they will not be implemented on a set date, nor will they have a set duration. We're aiming to replace them approximately every 3 months RL.

There will also be a section of changes aimed at more than pk.

Over the course of the day, some of these will be implemented, so stay tuned.

North:
Lightside: a shift in power has put the trolloc camp in the hands of the Bhan'sheen tribe. The Ahf'frait, Dha'vol, Dhai'mon, Ghar'ghael, Ko'bal and ramshorned trollocs have fled the vicinity.
Darkside: a dreadguard has rekindled the black flame, which upon feeding it ancient tree scalps may transport a trolloc to the Lugard Fade. Beware though, the residue of Saidin will alert the Guardian ter'angreal in Far Madding.

South-west:
Lightside: in two chokes in the Snow Covered Mountains of Mist, one can yodel to start an avalanche, shutting off travel across the mountain range. The avalanche will "melt" on zone repop.
Seanchan: some wagon train spilled a sack of kaf beans when travelling on the Tar Valon Road. A conscript went to investigate.

Exploration:
A cartographer in Far Madding needs assistance, he will explain what he wants if you mention a QUEST to him.

Quest:
An Altaran Lord has put out the word that he needs a hand. Tell him QUEST and he will let you know what is expected.

Roleplay:
Across the lands, you may now tell or say to a bartender the following things:
  • start rp celebration
  • start rp sad
  • start rp thought
This will cause the bartender to narrate that you are in his establishment and your mood. This may or may not encourage other people to look you up and have a chat.

Again, these temporary changes will stay in for approximately 3 months.

North:
DS: Blodfest's camp will now only load at Altara, Caralain and Far Madding. However, if you acquire the angreal, you can still move it to the other locations.
LS: Kajin now has anti-channel mobol aimed at Dreadlords.

South-west:
SS: A Fists of Heaven patrol is hiding in the Southern Braem.
LS: the anti-channel mobol on Seanchan officers has been considerably downed.

Quest:
There is a plague in Aringill. Please seek out the local reader and ask her for a quest.

Exploration:
The cartographer has moved to Four Kings and he needs help. Perhaps he will issue you a quest.

Smob:
Shadow Knight has a chance to load an extra item, on %.

Temporary change of September

Again, these temporary changes will stay in for approximately 3 months.

North:
DS: Fades in Blight will now, on %, kick LS channelers using certain fire weaves.
LS: LS clanned can now tell Kajin to "stand ground". This will vastly increase the chances he will stay put in the near future.

South-west:
SS: In order to expand north into Andor, we have sown kaf off the North Road, north of Taren Ferry.
LS: A Seanchan scout now roams south of the area known as 4x, which will announce your presence (glare).

Quest:
The bountyhunter has set up shop in Kintara and has a few names on his list.

Exploration:
The cartographer has moved to Four Kings and he needs help, again. Perhaps he will issue you a quest.

Smob:
Aylia will load a little something extra, on %.

Temporary changes of December.

Post by Voices of the Wheel » Fri Dec 01, 2017 9:10 am

Throughout the day, the temporary changes for the coming three months will be implemented and, once done, the old ones will be removed.

North, South and Central:
Capture-the-Flag patrols have been placed in the Two Rivers, Braem Wood and Winding. They change sides between Seanchan, Dark, the local clan, Children of the Light and bandits.

Scalp the leader mob to initiate the change.

Exploring:
The cartographer noticed something interesting on his travels. He still resides in Four Kings, but will give you a QUEST if you ask.

Quest:
The bountyhunter in Kintara has two new targets he needs help with.

Roleplay:
At master blacksmiths, you may SAY JOIN RETOOL GUILD. This will grant you the ability to make retools of "a handful of dust".
SAY RPRETOOL DUST a comfortable sofa
The master blacksmith will check whether you are a member of the guild and then either:
-load the dust, retool it and give it to you
-if he already has dust, retool it and give it to you

A master blacksmith gives you a comfortable sofa.

The item is no-rent and 5 lbs, it can be held for rp purposes.

All transactions are logged. If you abuse this, your membership of the retool guild will be revoked and you will not be able to re-join it. If too many people abuse this, it will be removed entirely. Abuse in this case would largely be inappropriate objects and replicating quest item names. In the latter case, you will also be docked the qps gained from doing this tenfold. Use common sense.

If people play nice, this may become a permanent feature, but no promises yet.

Smob:
Felice Navidad, as Felice, the cat lady is back. She loads a variety of items on % and to top it off, a % trinket load has been added. (Yes, I know it's Feliz, grant me my pun!)

Darkside:
Moridin's puppet Dragon will cause chaos in human lands. Each clan can set additional quests for targets in southern cities* that will further the spread of chaos.

Lightside:
Now that the Seanchan have joined the fight against the Shadow, we should strike swiftly and decisively. Each clan can set additional quests for targets in Darkside cities* that will further the Light.

*For DS: Everything south of Tar Valon. For LS: all DS cities, minus Blodfest.

You can either set 5 qps worth of quests every month, or 15 total over 3 months.
You can award for pk kills in cities, taking out shops, taking out 20 lamplighters for 1 qps (or something), cityheads, or for Healing type clans "heal an ally in an enemy city" and so on.
It's the councillors'/ masters' duty to post the quests, keep track on a thread on forums as to who has done what and award for the quests.
When awarding please include the word TEMP in your "for this and this task" somewhere so it's obvious that it's related to this temp change. Before in 3 years time we audit someone's qps and go "wtf were you issuing so many qps worth of quests around that time?!".

Exploring:
The cartographer has been asked to procure some items on his travels. You can find him in Tarendrelle. He will give you the details if you ask him about a QUEST.

Quest:
The bountyhunter in Kintara has been contacted to take some heads. Perhaps you can assist him.

Smob:
A Dragonsworn adjutant, sworn to Gorin Rogad, are wreaking havoc in Illian.

Roleplay:
Roleplay logs pertaining to the False Dragon that are posted on rp or clan forums will get an extra 1-3 qps, depending on quality. For easy finding on clanforums, please make a special thread.

Darkside:
Two ramshorned trollocs have been sent to reinforce the camp in the Borderlands.

Lightside:
The Treesinger in the Blighted Stedding will now slowly start regrouping his usual angry ogier.

Quest/ exploring:
The bountyhunter has moved to a sinking village in the contested lands between Illian and Tear. He has recruited the cartographer to find a weakness in Magita the Mercenary Queen's fort. Both will need some help. They will tell you what with if you say ISSUE QUEST. If you don't want to get spammed by both at the same time, use tells. ;)

Smob:
The Dreadlord at Blodfest will now have a chance of loading something extra.

Darkside:
Shivering trees have become more numerous off the Winding Road - two have spread their seeds and 4 have sprung up from bare soil.

Lightside:
The Winding commander should no longer move or chase out of his tower. Water has spilled from the Orchard well, causing additional trees to grow.

Seanchan:
A morat'to'raken has taken up a post in Tarendrelle, allowing for speedy travel towards Falme.

Lightside:
Ogier stonemasons will now aggro Seanchan again, on %.

Quest:
The bountyhunter is going north from Tear and he has a few targets on his list.

Exploring:
The cartographer has gone missing while traveling from the Drowned Lands to Mayene. His clientele in Mayene is eager for him to start his mapping. Please find him and inform him that he is EXPECTED IN MAYENE.

Smob:
The bandit warlord will have a chance to load something extra, the chance increasing depending on group size.

April temp zone changes - north of keep

Post by Camus » Mon Apr 01, 2019 11:47 am

The zone northwest of keep just underwent a few small changes. Here is what the zone usually looks like, where the southeast corner is keep and the southwest corner is all w keep

Image

The changes are:

* Remove N exit from ‘Thinning Vegetation’ (N of Rotten)
* Remove N exit from ‘North of the Path’ (NE of Rotten)
* Station one of the three fade patrols at ‘North of the Path’ (the other two patrols cannot reach that room)
* Remove all exits from ‘Blasted Lands’ (W W N from Log)
* Remove E and S exits from ‘Dank Swamp’ (N N W from Blasted Lands)

Here is what the map looks like after the change, and I added a red tab where the patrol is now stationed.

Image

The intent here is to keep PK going when LS has pushed DS back all the way to Keep, as well as to give the players involved in that pk a chance to finish opponents off.

No matter what, this is a temp change and in May things will go back to normal. We can at that point have a discussion about how the changes felt, but regardless first there will be a return to the default state.

These changes were suggested by Guhadin. Thanks to him for suggesting them, and be sure to let him hear all about it if you dislike!

PS this is not an April Fool's post ;)

Temporary Change: Forested Borderlands / Camp

Post by Aureus » Sun Feb 28, 2021 3:21 pm

I'm testing out some temporary changes to the Forested Borderlands / Camp zone. These will remain through the month of March, and are live now.

The changes are:
  1. Added a second entrance/exit to the trolloc camp, with DS mob support, to help make camp a more attractive fallback for DS / slightly less of a deathtrap when outnumbered.
  2. The rooms for this new entrance/exit were taken from the football field-ish northern end of the zone, which makes it more chokey. I expect this benefits both sides, but LS a bit more than DS.
  3. I tweaked the no-channel to be no fire, water, and earth instead of a blanket no-channel. This means air weaves can be channeled there, while still blocking the major damage weaves like fireball, ice spikes, and zing.
Enjoy!

EDIT 8 Apr 2021: These are now reverted since it's April.
