Get rid of pet shops entirely?
Illian Companions have a clan bonus of having a busy bee follow as a free pet as an example. Make all the annoying black dogs that hump people's legs act like Rufferto and the bees, have them follow on some say keywords. Can keep the cool stuff like the falcon for 10gcs at the Tear hunter practice.

That would also mean they aren't orderable, e.g. can't be ordered to sit, stand, flee etc. Arguably that can be moboled, but that's a ton of mobol.

Also means people can steal each other's pets which isn't ideal.

Ahh! Didn't realize you could do all of that with normal pets. I have only ever got a puppy to sit... sounds like some testing and an update to the pets page on the wiki is in order.
