i had wvd on him and wvevil on me. Not sure if this is the reason why they attacked.

Given what wve does, I think it's more related to 2 different types of enemies being in the room, which confuses mobs. E.g. a wanted fighting DS can sometimes make LS guards attack non-wanted LS. I suspect a wanted Seanchan will do the same in case of a DS presence.

Interestingly the mobs started ignoring me after this. It was nice actually having some mob support for once

I think it's a pve oriented weave and not pvp. We had asked Flash 2 years ago what it did and sure enough, it did what he said it should do.
