A rich-looking merchant counts his earnings.

Along the Winding Boulevard
The wide road leads to a small plaza to the east, at the intersection of
another road. Bustling with activity, many vendors sell their goods
alongside the road. Magnificent towers are visible looming over the rest of
the city, each vying against the other for attention.
[ obvious exits: E W ]
A flatbed wagon rocks back and forth on spoked wheels, pulled by a bloodstock stallion.
An oil lamp, set in a steel cage, hangs from a high wooden pole.
A mangy cat scurries around trying not to get stepped on.
A Tairen bloodstock stallion stands here, tail swaying with the breeze, pulling a flatbed wagon, being ridden by you.
A rich-looking merchant counts his earnings.

He doesn't appear to want to give me any money for my delicious casks of fish oil. I also tried different rich merchants in different cities and none wanted to pay for the oil.

The fishoil is an ingredient for the leatherworking craft, which is part of weaponscrafting. That means fishoil can be produced without limitation, unlike the items that can be turned in to the rich merchant, such as cheese, candles, wine etc.

On the other-hand I think cousin Jath told me that your average Inn-keeper will give a significant rent credit for it... ;)

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that <a packet of soap> is also not something the rich-looking merchant buys?

He doesn't respond to soap or a packet of soap and doesn't give any money when given to him.

Soap is something he doesn't buy either. Nor bolts of cloth.

I'm assuming you're going off the website? The mob looked like it was updated on saying what it would buy. The website is something I can't change, unfortunately.

Luckily the Wiki can be changed, so I've updated some of the sidetrades pages accordingly.
