I think a spade should respond to spade.
A Mended Farmhouse
New wooden shingles have been used to replace their old and rotten
counterparts. A fresh layer of paint has been added and the roof has been
repaired. Some new furniture has been added and the building has been
thoroughly cleaned of cobwebs. While not a luxurious home, it will
definitely provide shelter in its new condition.

Southern mini-smob chain

Re: Southern mini-smob chain
Just a quirk of generic quest retooled items, is a lot of quest items that don't respond to anything in their description, just "thing" or sometimes "clay".
Re: Southern mini-smob chain
The pickaxe on the northern smob chain responds to pickaxe. Is that because it's an actual item in game also? Why can't the spade be a real item. Wonder what the benefit is.
Re: Southern mini-smob chain
The pickaxe is an actual item, used for mining. My guess is its simpler to have retooled items for quests rather than creating one off things, but not actually sure :p
