But I don't know that the explanation is correct. Saw it happen today, and figured I would post

Guard Tower above the City Wall
This stone chamber provides a strong point to house the great winches and
chains which operate the gates that seal the city in times of war. Catwalks
extend to the north and south providing archers a field of fire below while
this chamber is riddled with murder-holes to allow the gatekeep to judge when
the gates must be opened or closed as well as allowing him to rain boiling oil
and missiles on attackers below.

Zone: Baerlon
North: A sleek well-trained torm glares fiercely about.
South: A stalwart Imperial guard patrols the streets, protecting the citizens.
Down: A Dragonsworn guard stands ready to protect the city and its citizens.

The corpse of Varak the Gatekeeper is lying here.
A lantern has been left here.
A pair of boots with a leather harness stands here.
A sailor's pair of leather trousers has been left here.
A tall staff of a light colored wood gathers dust here.
A thin pair of leather gloves has been set here.
A light pair of leather coverings lies upon the ground.
A thick leather vest is here.
A leather helmet has been dropped here.
A tall animal with a long neck stands here.
A ratter is here, hunting shadoweyes.
A warhorse is here, stamping his feet impatiently.
Tusty Drails is standing here.
Huskarl the Standardbearer is standing here.
A stalwart Imperial guard patrols the streets, protecting the citizens.

You get a large iron key from the corpse of Musar the gatekeeper.
You get the gatekey of Baerlon from the corpse of Musar the gatekeeper.
You get a large iron key from the corpse of Varak the Gatekeeper.

You can't find any keys in the corpse of Musar the gatekeeper.
You get the gatekey of Baerlon from the corpse of Varak the Gatekeeper.


I think if each container has multiple of the item key, then that is what causes it to break. Since these are corpses, as far as I can tell, they don't meet the conditions stated in the explanation.
